Army of the Uncool

By laguna on July 16, 2018 12:01 am

Cooked in two and a half hours prior to the deadline, using bits and pieces previously prepared from the DM1 beat box for iPad and a drum rack based on the Alesis DM5.

I feel it could be more interesting if developed further, but I'm quite satisfied with the general idea smile

Lots of work lately, though I hope to have more time to check your late releases smile

Have a great week!

Bigger than the army of the undead. But, a misnomer, since this is very cool indeed. ::)

Love the scratching.

DM1 has some nice drums, DM2 has much more control over the sounds but in my hands doesn't sound as interesting as DM1, like Jim mentioned great scratches, also like that vocal sample

Thanks a lot for the good feedback, Jim, and please excuse the late reply. I'm glad you liked the scratching, though not all the cuts are mine. I've built a big scratching library with snippets from various sources, form back in the early 2000's. Some cuts sound a little dated now, so I'd love to have time and pick cool lines from some more contemporary stuff, along with certain humble Youtubers and the like, instead of the same old same old "freshhhhhh" stuff (which I also love, by the way).

The name came from nowhere, but reminded me that this kind of glitchy electronic hip hop is somewhat nerdy yet globally loved by an army of nerds and electronic freaks... so I consider myself part of the "Army of the Uncool" smile

Thanks for listening as always Jason, and for the tip about DM2. I'm completely off about new apps, because my iPad is always almost full and I feel I hardly ever use the good ones I already have. Will check it, anyway, because your mobile workflow is always inspiring

A beat I would breakdance to if I was nimble and such smile  That intro scratch grabs your attention right away.  Your weeklybeats can also be called the 2.5hr challenge smile  I'd still be searching presets during that time!  (i mean sound-designing, yeah) tongue
