Acid (business) trip

By laguna on October 7, 2018 11:32 pm

A quick VCV Rack-based psychedelic soundscape, with slight Ableton postprocessing.

I was running out of time to finish my actual week project, so I rendered this generative jam and gave it a simple fade in and fade out. Nothing fancy but I got a release, nonetheless.

Stuck in a hotel room during a business trip. Should be sleeping right now instead of posting, but the WB state of mind was too strong smile

Have a great week around the world smile

Here's the VCV Rack patch if you wanna fiddle with those virtual cables (props to Jim Wood!!!) smile

Great interlude between a fade-in and a fade-out. That's what life is, a summary of interludes. Work and business also are interludes, interludes between two songs. Thank you for this one, I enjoy it very much

I've had trips like this. Nice tempo shifts (I'll probably rip you off on these).

That's quite an almost spiritual and deep observations, now I want to make an album called "You live in the interlude between two songs" smile

Inspiring words, indeed. Thank you for this comment, it really made my (busy) day smile

Oh, please do, Sir! I used the signal of an LFO to clock a CV step sequencer that generates the note frequencies and the envelopes, so adding a second LFO to modulate the first, I obtained some drifty tempo, drenched in reverb and variable delay.

I posted the VCV Rack patch for you if you want to have a go at it. Program is pretty intuitive and free/open source. From the site itself you could create an account and add whatever expansion modules you want. Some of them are paid (which I think is fine, considering the quality of the software and its quick development pace) but here I'm not using any of them. It will reply that "You're missing some modules" until it gets it right.

Tempo drifting is cool! Thanks a lot for the feedback, Jim. Always appreciated!

this is super cool. great patch

Thank you, Matteo! And by the way: your site inspired me to build/improve my old 19" rack (beautiful Eurorack setup, you have)

this is awesome - really lovely!  smile

Thanks a lot, Kaedo. I'm glad people are enjoying it, since it's almost an accidental piece.

Super cool synth patch indeed.  Love the thickness of that arp.
