This one's weird, for sure. Finished (so to speak) 7 minutes before the deadline, and composed entirely on Sunday. I swear I was aiming to make some hip hop, inspired by the great work of Ecso, Grillo and Franky.

In particular, I read Ecso was getting most of his samples out of VCV Rack, so I tried to imitate him. 3 hours later I had just some bleeps and a basic drum break so boring and lame I didn't knew what to do.

I though about doing some polymetric rhythms with basic Ableton clips, like the ones the cool kids do with their Euclidean modules. Snares sidechaining the kick sidechaing the hihats, kicks envelopes filtering the break, kicks sidechaing the vocoder and the delay. The bass appears to do something because an arpeggiator is retriggering in triples, but its just 3 notes. Tried to glue all together...

Frankly, I don't have a clue what is this, but I guess is not a head-nodder.

I'm really trying not to abuse the delays and keep the mix somewhat clean, though I think this one's on the verge of chaos. So many jumps in the stereo field that my ears are completely tired, so I'm the worst judge right now.

No proper intro, just 2 bars of hihats and there goes the main mix. The bridge areas with the FM pad (a preset found less than 20 minutes before the deadline) are "left hanging" and it needs more variation. With more time, I maybe could smooth those transitions.

Anyway, maybe this sounds better tomorrow.

I wish you all are staying safe and healthy. I will go back on duty in 3 days, so a special shout to all working "in the streets". I wish you have the best seven days, no matter such special circumstances we're in.

Peace!!!

I very much likes what's going on in this track, I sense some dub/reggae in there which I found absolutely great with that electronic surface. Good job!

Varsagod, God Varg!!! I really like dub, though as I tell in the description, this started as a hip hop beat, and I got lost in the way smile

Tack sa mycket, ScanianWolf smile

I rarely even try to classify my stuff in any particular genre.

That rhythm is chaos; I love it. Nice work this week!

the groove is really strange but it has a nice feel, it's really fresh! Take care you too!

Great mix of sounds and I love how you can't categorize this, there is elements of many styles in the track, the closest thing I can think of is some of the earlier Plaid stuff.  I pray things improve in your part of the world, stay safe and healthy I know you have a frontline job and have no choice but to work.

this is hot!  great beat that has me really bobbing up and down.  favorited and downloaded!!

Very cool beat, that drumkit is something else! big_smile

I also recognized a small amount of Swedish in your comment, from the time I tried to learn Swedish online..... smile

yah this beat is chaos in the right way! I'm also real partial to stereo delay whatnots, so I damn near figure you can't have enough.

This is really cool! The textures are very interesting and the percussion has a nice hop to it. Super neato.

Loving the complexity and heaviness of this beat!  Great mix, too!

Lovely! heart

Great beat, you have a great sense of flow while juggling a ton of very different samples. Very impressive! "back on duty" you're going outside to work? Stay safe if that's the case, best of luck out there.

I like the drum resonator feel you get from that main synth that interacts with the cool drums.  Stay safe out there!
