Monarchs

I feel like I say this every week now, but I was feeling pretty stuck on this one for awhile - this time I really feel like it came out well in the end.
This is based on a song from January 18th of last year, here's the original version, which I think has a lot of charm:

Tuesday through Thursday I spent quite a bit of time trying to play the song on guitar and piano and just not finding the right way to play it.
Friday night I finally forced myself to track a piano guide track and drums, as well as the layered guitar that eventually became the intro/outro and middle instrumental.
Saturday I made a decision to create a pointillistic arrangement - in this case meaning no chord instruments, just all one-note lines forming the full song. I tracked basically all instruments this day - there's an instrument list at the bottom.
Sunday, mixing and uploading.
The lyrics are important so here they are:
Caterpillars make food for birds, but butterflies are poisonous
Human beings made food for worms when worms survive the apocalypse
Transformations are inevitable and the results are tangible
People find it a little bit dull but every piece affects us all
We move so fast that we forget the past
We think we are the stars but we are just the cast
Your little squabbles, grudges & spats, you think they bear such consequence
But all your papers will be nests for rats; your greatest accomplishment
Your rotundas and your gilded domes won't last more than a couple weeks
Filled with water, spilling down the hall, when the world belongs to the meek
Then the chorus again, but this time it's past tense
Instrument list:
voice (two layers)
guitar (EOB strat, lots of layers)
drums (kick, snare, hihat, and one crashy ride)
bass guitar (with a cloth stuck under the strings by the bridge)
Moog Sub37 (two patches, two layers of one patch)
vibraphone
trombone (three layers)
