Winter Filler

By Kedbreak136 on February 6, 2022 9:27 am

Uninspired, recovering from covid, and having a brutal week at work, it was tough to get something out this weekend. I am pretty unhappy with this track, it just does not work for me. I started a lot of other tracks this week (a cyberfunk track, a track inspired by the game bioshock, a game inspired by samurais emerging from the fog and another trip hop one) but nothing seemed to work. As i was watching the opening ceremony of the winter olympics, I was taken back to old playstation games of snowboard and wanted to do some DNB/jungle track for snowboard. It did not work out very well either but at least i'll make that the track for this week.

The start is the sound of closing the snowboard boots. Alright, I hope I'll be more inspired next week.

Come back to this in a little while. I think you'll find stuff to like about it. It's really not bad.

I like the way this has a strong driving feel and a real sense of speed. It would totally fit in a sci-fi snowboarding game, perhaps in the vein of Road Rash where you're also attempting to hurt/injure/maim your opposition.

It's a nice energy winter song, and I like your drums in the start! I feel uninspired to my song also, you are not alone. I wish it's a better next week!

Oh woah! Those Trance/dnb hints at around 01:15, it's impressive how massive this sounds! Well done!

Glad to hear from your Covid recovery. This track sounds solid and strong. Absolutly OK for me.

The energy of this is strong, even if it's not a personal favorite for you. It works really well with the snowboarding Bender gif.

I just bought Riders Republic video game and have been looking forward to snowboarding!

Cool Boarders and 1080 had awesome dnb soundtracks.  Not sure what the connection is to dnb and snowboarding, but I love it.

LOVE that I can hear the carving!  So cool how you do so much sound design in your work.  I get the movie and the soundtrack all in one.

What's the intro?  Strapping into the snowboard?

#speedtrash

It's kind of a snowboarding heist music. Goes well with the gifs big_smile

I like that all the elements work together swimmingly (snowboardingly?), nothing seems out of place or too much!

I like the intro and that it's fast and crazy throughout. I get what you are saying having just listened to the rest of your tracks which have more dynamics and different sections but hey - the breadth of your work is pretty amazing, so this is a good addition I would say. Thanks for the music and good luck fully recovering!

Man this goes hardddd. Sorry you're feeling uninspired this week, I've been the same. Bad moods fade away eventually. Hope you're inspiration comes back soon.

This is quite good, lots of energy, cool scratches and little sounds dropping in, maybe I’m also really excited as heading to the mountains on Friday to go snowboarding

The beauty of WB is that even when we personally may be unhappy with what we finished others will find and point out the hidden gems.  I would loooove to have come up with a bassline like that lol.  The fast paced dnb drums with that synth sounds awesome and now I want to snowboard (ok prob just in a video game cuz my ass lives in Miami and that would hurt).  I agree with the others, come back later to this and you'll maybe have a different outlook on it.  Either way it's a good track!

Rad hard driving frenetic track. You got some hard smacking drums in there.  This is like half action packed chase and full on synth anthem.  Looking forward to hear the cyberfunk track you're working on!

I've been dreaming about snowboarding lately. I think I need to go. This could be good soundtrack to shredding down the hill for sure. Congrats on getting something out even though weren't feeling great. Hope you feel tip top next week, always fun to hear your creations!

Hell yeah dude, this is wild.  Love the super fast apps/sequences.  What game are we working with here, Coolboarders?

I love this kind of energy! Is there some layered vocal sample at the end?  I'd like to have more of that -- sounds like it could have gone a pretty wild direction big_smile

The energy in this track is amazinG!  Love the variation throughout the track, and the transitions are so smooth.  Great job

Damn dude, hope next week is better! I liked this track; very fast paced and high energy smile

Have to agree with Hent03!

Also, the bonus is you've got several other songs up your sleeve you can work on for future weeks.  yay!  big_smile

Oh, and how'd you go with your illness?  Did it hit you hard or wasn't too bad?

This is epic! Especially for a "not feeling it week", awesome work

Thank you! It is true that coming back to past tracks, they sometimes sound better than remembered. It also happens that they sound worse. smile I guess at the time of creation you measure it against the ideal idea you had of the beat, but then when you have forgotten what that ideal was and listen to it again, it's possible to enjoy it for what it is instead.

Thank you! Inspiration came back this week. We'll see if it lasts. smile

Haha, this is layers and layers and layers of beats and bass lines that double and triple the rhythm. Brickwalled beat!

We need a snowboarding Bender music genre.

The intro is indeed strapping into the snowboard and the whole track has indeed snow carving in the back. smile Cool Boarders was an inspiration for the vibe of this track!

Yes, I feel better this week and hope to expand on some ideas of past weeks! smile

Haha thank you! I need to go back to this cyberfunk track. Maybe I should watch Johnny Mnemonic and some 70s good movie on two tvs at the same time to get the balance right.

If you dream about it, it calls to you, you need to respond to the call! Thank you for listening!

Yes, indeed Coolboarders! smile Awesome time playing this back in the days on... was it playstation 1?

There is indeed some layered vocal samples, from a pack of traditional shamisen playing. I am trying to reuse this pack, more samples may popup in future tracks. smile

Thank you for the comment! I'll need to listen it differently, maybe while going down the slops (on skis, i can't snowboard).

That's right and with some inspiration they might turn into something!

The double vaccination plus weaker strand probably helped so the top was not too hard, just a few days of fever. The long tail of fatigue and taste/smell loss was tiring and depressing, but really I have nothing to complain about.

Yeahhhhhh, love that game.  Grew up on that and THPS.  Definitely PS1, I remember the black CDs vividly.

Glad it wasn't tooooo bad.  The loss of taste/smell sounds like Delta though.  Who knows though!  Upped that natural immunity too. smile

Man, I'm looking forward to seeing what you're happy with: fantastic drum programming, loud ass banger of a tune! Congrats on recovery!
