Welcome to the Year of the Tiger (what a silly looking animal)

By Kedbreak136 on January 9, 2022 1:05 pm

Week 1 of Weekly beats 2022, which happens to be the Year of the Tiger. It sounded very appropriate to open the year with a track that celebrates the new year. A black and white scene in an old smoky jazz club, spoken words (thanks to vo.codes AI voices generation), tribal percussion, weird horns, and of course a big furry cat.

It's good to be back and to see so many familiar people!
I continued in 2021 with weekly tracks and released a couple of compilations on bandcamp - they're for free, check it out if you feel so inclined.

Looking forward to listening to everybody's new tracks!

Really nice way to kick off the first week. Getting some Cowboy Bebop vibes from this one, and the monologue in the middle is lots of fun (Liam Neeson?)

Ah yeah a goal of mine is to get better at horns to be able to go full cowboy bebop!
AI voice of Liam Neeson, a bit weird at some points (like it seems it cannot pronounce the word "embarassed") but technology is impressive. and silly. and fun.

This is so cinematic I love it.
The horns are great, and the groove is sublime

Haha nice, the moment it hit I was like "Aw yeah, the kedbreak style". Can never predict what kind of music you're going to make but I know it's always going to be pretty adventurous. The moment I read "Cowboy Bebop" I can't envision it as anything else. It super fits that mood.

Hey man!! What a movie you offer here. Wow. Tasty and wild.
10/10 points.

MEOW! Those horn stabs! Super jazzy kick off to 2022.

Excellent composition and arrangement! (And a nice touch of silliness to boot.) Looking forward to hearing your stuff again this year!

Ninja Tune-esque! The roars marks transitions  in a effective way.

I was thinking full on Cowboy Bebop as well! The style of this is just so much fun to listen to, I can't get enough of this kinda restrained energy. Excellent tune overall, looking forward to the next 51 heart

Congratulations about being able to continue to compose every week last year... I didn't do much. Nice track, very cool ambiance. I'll try to release stuff this year, hopefully decent tracks.

Awesome first piece of the year! Great drum track and melodies, exciting and funny--very cool.

Yuuuuup! This is great! Love the horns.

This totally could have made it into the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack... nice work, man!

this song travels and just straight GROOVES. horn staccs gave me Shaft vibes! XD

Hey hey!  Good to hear your tunes again.  This is a wild intro, definitely the most unique I've heard yet.  Love the percussive element in this, cool stuff!

Hell yes! Great groove and samples!

Bonne année Kedbreak! Elle déchire ta première chanson de 2022, super dansante et bien remplie d'énergie! hâte de suivre tes prochains beats hebdomadaires cette année, it's gonna be fantastic!
Keep it up!

This is a super fun track.  The horns sound fantastic and the Liam Neeson spoken word section is great.  It was mesmerizing to watch the gif of the piano-playing kitty cat along with the track.  Sounds like you're in peak form after continuing to make weekly tracks in 2021.  I feel like I'm going to need a little time to warm up.

Stoked you're back! And wow, you're really kicking off this year with a tasty morsel. As so many have mentioned, the bebop influence is awesome, but I also really love the progression leading to the monologue. Very, very cool.

Great track with a cool vibe through out and great use of samples. Good to see you back this year too.  smile

Energy is so good on this, great idea for a track, always enjoy your originality

So fun, very creative. I loved it!

I knew it was yours when I heard the lighters (as I believe I recall your use of these in previous projects).

You are the true beast, going on for all of 2021 as well

Hot! Could easily be in a kung fu movie!

Love the upbeat pace of this track.  Especially that sweet bassline.  The brass sounds tight as well.  Great to see you back for another go and congrats on a super productive 2021! smile

oooooooo i love it

This track has a great energy and rhythm! Love the pitch bends and the brass sounds great

Heck yes, I'm there in the smoky club, doing tiger stuff to ring in this new year of WB. The horn players and I understand each other. Good to see you back here, can't wait to hear you each week. Props on carrying on last year. I'll connect with you on Bandcamp.

Thank you! Still working on how to arrange horns but i am glad I invested in a library instead of relying on the "trumpet" sound of sytrus. smile

The trick to continuing to compose every week is that to accept that a lot of it will be really garbage. But that's ok! smile Let's continue and get stuff out all year!

I wish I could brag that I programmed all of it, or better played it all. But it's a combination of a lot of samples from Splice. Well I guess I did buy them, that has to count for something.

Liam Neeson's fake AI voice from vo.codes has to be the best. I used it on a track last year to read some Edgar Allan Poe on an Halloween track and it just works pretty well (except some words that for some reason are not pronounced properly).

haha good catch, indeed I used this group of samples in a track in 2020 (Sunday Night Drive). You gotta amortize samples investments! smile

If I stop, I am not sure I can start again. So, just in the benefit of the doubt, I don't stop.

Thank you! I am happy with the new bass library I am using - it has got a pretty natural contrabass sound. Will definitely use it more!

The AI for spoken words is really helpful, even if it's not perfect and the copyrights question of that is a bit murky.
