The Robot Hive of Aldebaran

By Kedbreak136 on November 20, 2022 11:54 am

Aldebaran has an artifical moon that was built by an AI sent by humans a long long time ago. The planet grew and grew and grew so much that it now even has its own atmosphere. When one first starts the descent towards the planet, tall elegant spires pierce out of the clouds. But it's when one goes past the cloud that the manic activity of the living robot planet is apparent with millions of machines running and flying to their business in a strange alien ballet.

Or at least that's what the track sounds like to me, a descent towards the surface and down the tunnels of a gigantic robot hive city. A bit muddy here and there, and some experiments at modulation towards the end (to the minor third, a la Living on a Prayer...). It's a bit much, but hey, why not?

I always dig the stories behind your tracks and robots are always cool.  I can totally picture the scene you describe.  Great energy on this one, too.

Bustling with activity and no sign of life anywhere, I wonder what the seedy underbelly is like here

woah - that was awesome!

That high pitched screeching sound is perfect effect of giving that illusion of descending through the atmosphere, thankfully these robots have some funk and rhythm and don’t seem to want to enslave the traveller.

EEEEEVIL (with amazing breaks as usual). Really dug this, maximum energy.

Just seeing the title got me pumped. Here we go ... yep. Hell yes, that main groove around 1 min in, this is going places, those robots have big plans, but they know how to get down. I respect that. A bit much? just right!

Excellent story telling as always.  As I read it and that intro arp kicked in I got visuals of descending down a glass elevator.  Really cool effect.  The breaks are top notch and that bass line is sneakily sinister.  Excellent outro arp as well!

haha this is exactly what I imagine dance off in amazon warehouses at night look like, when all humans are taking their legal 2 minutes daily break to go to the toilet, and the robots use the chance to get some fun.

They are too busy to notice the biological masses walking around and taking pictures of their digital counterparts.

Haha thank you! This track actually started as a swing track with brasses, etc but then went down the robotic trend because... things happen during weekly beats.

Thank you very much for listening and for your nice comment! smile

Yeah I'm totally feeling the vibe. Feels like a descent for the first 40 seconds or so and you soar over the surface of the artifical moon taking in it's technological glory, then down into the tunnels.  I think my favorite part is the 1:35ish section with the arp and bass interaction.

you're so welcome smile i don't know the backstory, i just go on giphy while listening to tracks and search the first term that comes to mind from listening to and feeling through the track... i can't remember the exact phrase i used for your track here, i feel it might've been something like 'robot breakdown'. the gif is from the 'chemical brothers' channel on giphy, though, so maybe the chemical brothers used it in a live show at some point(but i don't find it easily in any of their music vids when i search... maybe just a random gif they made).
