The House on the Hill

By Kedbreak136 on October 30, 2022 12:06 pm

I went for a Halloween vibe this week. Like full in stereotype scary story that children whisper to each other in the dark. A haunted house on the hill, with strange silhouettes at night, a sound of drums deep deep down the earth. The children dared each other to go explore the house. And the track ensues. Also, they should not have opened that door. But all ends well. There is a moral to the story. JUST DON'T GO TO HAUNTED HOUSES.

Spooky dramatic and quite Holywoodesque especially the buildup around 1:20, nice track!

those creaks in the intro are really really good!

THE LAUGHHHHHHH that sounds like Shao Kahn from Mortal Kombat.

Love the.....oboe?

DON'T GO INTO THAT HOUSE YOU STUPID KIDS!

Back with the cinematics, this one's really tight. Well done, I can almost imagine the movie.

Nonsense, always go into the haunted house! Especially if they sound like this. The instrumentation on this is great - sigh - I really need to worker harder on my own stuff. Great work!

Pretty epic for a Halloween theme.

What a blockbuster sound.  Love those creaking boards. What did you use to make this?

Yup. And also, "Let's all go separately" is the equivalent of "alright, let's play russian roulette".
I think it's a clarinet instead of a oboe, but that was close. For the laugh I played with a lot of different variations, wanting something over the top. It kinda works!

Yes! Recently I have not given enough effort to the tracks so I thought I need to up my level a little. I spent more time on this one and I am happy it sounds a bit more inspired and deeper than previous "instant speedtrash" tracks.

I can relate feeling the need to work harder on tracks. I was listening the other day to a Rick Rubin interview. To the question "do you ever go back and want to fix old works", his answer is "no! This is the best that it could be, assuming you did the best you could do". I feel that's where I have failed in past weeks. It's ok not to do a great track but it's too bad when I feel I could have done better with a little more work and attention to detail.

That being said, this is also weekly beats and the only challenge is really to produce a track each week. It's ok to be a bit relaxed about things. smile Looking forward to your next huge final fantasy epic track. smile

Well. I wish I could say I am a foley artist and went to gather wood, make it crackle, etc. But the truth is that I just use Splice and their wonderful database of audio sample. There is even a serie of libraries called "Horror" and that does includes door creaking and wood sounds. I'm really just a curator. smile

What a fun Halloween track and very well executed!  No pun intended.  big_smile. I can definitely imagine this used on a film of some sort.  Elements of Danny Elfman minus the electro breakbeat briefly hehe....  and great use of samples as always.

Really nails the Halloween vibe and covers quite a bit of ground along the way.  The section starting at 2:30 really takes it in a different direction, I almost thought I was losing the Halloween feel, but the evil laugh and the outro bring it all in for a nice spooky landing.  Well done.

Halloween with a bass boom! Halloboooooom!!!!!
That's some quality cinematic level spooky immersion right there heart

Fantastic intro, samples really set the mood, really enjoy the strings, give a cinematic feel and sense of urgency (quick!  Get out the house), wow wasn’t expecting the change up near the end, kids are kicking the monsters asses now.

Love the full orchestrated sound you have going.  The sinister sound is definitely present throughout.  Some cool Elfman like parts in the middle but oh damn the monster chase scene kicks in with the beats.  Excellent cinematic feels!

This perfectly captures the essence of a cinematic haunted house, excellent job!

I was a little scared to start this track, but it has a fun spooky feel, could totally be in classic Halloween movies - yeah the Elfman vibes. I can almost hear some vocals on it now. Wow great instrumentation, strings, reeds, percussions. Will it take a classic Kedbreak change up ... Oh yes!! It's on now! haha, epic end, I'm scared.

Stop.
Motion.
Animation.
Soundtrack.
GOES HARD AF.
But, like, only for a lil' bit.

(Delightful!)
