Primordial Soup

By Kedbreak136 on November 15, 2020 1:07 pm

This track is an horrible mess. I wish I could use the excuse I spent only a few minutes, but it's not even the case! I spent hours on this! And it's still an incoherent mish mash of random pieces that don't really fit together. That's how it was born, to be fair. I used this track as an experiment on the KHS One synth, trying out a lot of different textures and sounds. All leads and synths are are from the KHS one. And I opened the musical equivalent of my fridge to see what remained from previous meals, took everything, put it into a blender and *bzzz* here you go.

The positive side is that I learnt a couple of things about the KHS One. The negative side is that this schizophrenic mix of random notes, which melodies that are out of keys of each other and atmospheres that alternate between space odyssey and frog dance, is just a terrible mess, a frankenstein of trent reznor and mickey mouse. I'll probably come back to it in the future and salvage it for parts.

Not a speedtrash, but most definitely trash.

Maybe you hate it, but I dig the raw power of the whole thing at 1:20. It's awesome and it's easily my favorite part. I also have a soft spot for whatever that weird sound is you open up with.

I don't think it's trash at all, I think it just might not have hit your expectations?

Indeeed, I think it's because it does not align with the image I had for the track in my head.

The part at 1:20 is one I think I should have removed, just because it's so different and yet could be used in a crazy tongue in the cheek track.

The intro sound is from the KHS One, one of the presets I played with. It's a very good synth. smile

Thank you for listening!

I think sometimes it's fun to just make noises without any particular direction in mind.  It doesn't always lead to transcendence but it can still take you to some interesting places.  I kind of see this one as a bit of a journey through several different moods.  And there definitely are cool sounds in here.

This sounds like the best soundtrack for the US-election 2020 ever made. Vicory and chaos everywhere.

I actually really liked the track. Love when the beat kick in at the 1m20 something mark. Very engaging, loads of stuff going on.

haha i like that is just changes abruptly lol i have a song like this i will probably put on weeklybeats

I actually enjoyed playing with textures and trying new sounds, that's not totally lost. smile

I think I really need to scavenge that 1m20 bit and make that the seed for a new track.

Yeah, it's really all over the place. The good thing about putting that kind of track out is that it sets a baseline for randomly pieced track and makes it easy to put something out "at least not as bad as THAT other track". smile

A nice collective soup of synths in this one smile  The KHS intro synth sounds great.  Lots of stuff going on indeed but mayhaps it will lead to you revisiting and creating other versions or mixes.

The texture of the sounds are really interesting in this

fun!

Haha love the description.  Nothing wrong with a mess though, there's no standard format to follow.  Love the squelchy sounds you were able to make on the KHS though, definitely right up my alley lately.

The KHS one is awesome, there is really a lot of very cool organic sound to extract from it.

The synth sounds cool!  I like your title, basically you have to dive into the synth and extract the insanity to get the good stuff smile
