Chance Encounters

By Kedbreak136 on March 26, 2022 12:47 pm

Spring has finally arrived, and it's one of the best times to get out and take a walk in nature. I have hills behind where I live, with a nice bamboo grove and a cherry blossom trees that are just starting to bloom now. Walking outside without any music and just enjoying the sounds of nature is one of the most relaxing activity I can find, and I sometimes record them. This track was made with a lot of recordings of things happening on the spot, chance encounters. The sound of pebbles under my shoes, the birds singing, the sound of the river this morning as I was doing a run, and also a very precious recording of a drummer who had set his kit on the hill and was hitting at his practice toms. You can hear him in the track, with his nice fills that sound a bit like woodblock.

I wanted to capture on a simple little track this light vibe of walking in nature during spring. smile

Man, the scenery of japan sounds so nice. I'd love to visit there someday, cherry blossoms and bamboo would be a sight. Also, I love these kind of personal touches to a song because it's kind of like taking a photograph for memories but instead you're capturing sounds from life and commemorating it with an expression through music. This song will essentially always be a memory of your walk on the first day of spring of 2022.  smile

This has a really nice groove to it that just sounds like being out strutting through the world.  Really like the little touches from your actual walk.  The sound of the pebbles under your feet is especially satisfying to me.

That guitar bit that comes in at the midpoint is perfect. Love how you give it space to do its own thing then bring everything else back in. Feels great.

This track is so fun. Like the shuffling beat with the guitar and using the nature sounds.  I agree with everything you said, love being out in nature during all times of the year, sounds beautiful where you are, would love to visit Japan one day.

What a nice way to capture a beautiful day! Thanks for taking us along for your walk smile would be great to visit someday!

Agreed with hent03.  Do you play the parts in or is everything programmed?

Reminds of the first time I visited japan and did a similar field recording of walking through the parks and capturing some incidental music being played.  Love Japan.  Did a mini tour there a few years ago now and hope to get back there at some stage.

Lovley way to capture your springtime experience and to share it with us. The guitar- and synth-melody is extraordinarily happy and fun to listen to. Thank you for this track.

Nice idea! It's an exciting walk to this music, the instruments sounds outside also, and I love hearing the birds big_smile

yes, that is nicely put. Listening to the track takes me back to that moment. Especially the strange encounter with the drummer who I asked before I recorded him. I missed a guy rehearsing the shamisen in the park, that's a pity.

Haha it is good to see I am not the only one who kinda enjoys that slightly crusty sound. So much interesting texture in pebbles!

Thank you! I wanted to capture the vibe of just playing alone with your guitar in nature, in a very simple and direct fashion.

It is nice here and I must say Spring is one of the best times (Fall is great too). Cherry blossom season here this week, and the temperatures are mild. This is an improvement over winter!

The guitar (and guzheng actually that does some question/response when other instruments come back) are all programmed. Japan has a lot of great things to do and has so many places to play music that it's really great as a musician or music lover! Looking forward to you playing here!

Thank you for listening! I was able to write something that is not minor minor minor - what an accomplishment for me!

Right? Birds have such a variety of sounds and melodies. We need more birds.

Love the ambience and feel of being outside and taking a stroll through the park.  Totally felt like you were playing a happy melody and interacting with all of mother nature around you.  I've been super lazy this year so far and haven't been doing my park walks so this was a nice reminder I need to get my ace outside enjoy the weather.

This is so much fun, I love that bassline. Big shout out to that guy playing the drums, it's funny that his practice session has reached me all the way in Denmark. Great track heart

These hills sure are alive with music.

Great beats.  Cheery and upbeat! Perfect for start of Spring! I like the unison playing of the bass synth with the plucked string instruments.

Funky stuff! Nice soundscape incorporation too. smile

Wonderful noise textures, the field recordings in this are fantastic. The funk around 1:10 or so is delightful. heart

Walking in nature is the best way I know to recharge batteries and ground myself, getting rid of the day to day stress of work!

Right? This middle aged Japanese guy's rehearsal session is now captured and transformed, and has traveled across the world. smile

Indeed, the hills have ears.

Thank you! I like the random aspect of field recording.

Love hearing sounds of a walk. The is happy walking music to put a pep in your step. I walk my dog around almost everyday, great moments of peace and reflection. Awesome bassline. The guitar/string instrument so pretty, plays so well with the rest. Sounds like a lovely area to walk, so the drummer on the hill, is that ok, does that kind of disturb the nice peaceful vibe?

Thank you for your comment! It's a nice area, with a couple of horses and fields where people grow vegetables as well. He did not really bother me and I would see him on a regular basis. However, once I saw him with the police and I guess not everyone was thrilled by a groovy drummer playing in their backyard. I have not seen him in a while now. I hope he has found a good new place to practice!

I'm catching up on all your stuff and it is so wild to hear your tracks back to back to back!  As a person that strives to out do themselves, it's so impressive to me that how you achieve this both compositionally and sonically.  You really inspire me with your storytelling, your cinematic approach, and your carefree attitude!

also, i want to live in a place where people practice drums outside.  do they carry them out, i'm assuming?  or is it just like this wet, rusted drum kit living in the woods?  LOL

great piece!
