Hey everyone!
This track was made only using po12, po14, po20, po24, and po137 sounds via my m8 along with the Korg Kaossilator app (and a single gameboy wav synth I created for a small lead. okay and yes the long sample in the middle of its from this youtube video poop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6yg4ImnYwA I couldn't resist tbh sorry for all of this if you want a link to my youtubepoop playlist hmu ill make it public).
A few things. I'm still experimenting with pocket operator samples and this past week found a pretty decent sample through soundcloud for the po137 rick and morty edition. While I wait for a friend to ship me theirs to borrow and sample for the discord/any of yall's use - I messed around with these for now.
I'm not a dedicated fan of the series and havent caught up on the past 2 seasons or so but while I explore the po series via the m8 I figured I might as well hit them all. I also acquired the po14 this week and took a sample/sliced up it's lo-fi bass kit. Sometime next week I'll prioritize uploading those po14 and po137 drum kit samples to the m8 discord (=-=)7
Also in the nature of experimentation and sampling - during quarantine Korg made its kaossilator app free for awhile which I still have downloaded on an older phone. They wouldn't allow me to transfer it to my current phone, which is a bit frustrating - o well. Anyway! I sampled a fair amount of different loops and custom patterns off the app and honestly had a fun time implementing such weird gear through the m8. This thing (m8) makes any instrument playable! And also - not for nothing I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying the kaossilator app but a few of their bass sounds were real nice. just sayin.
no sync capabilities or anything, but working all within the same tempo across projects made sampling and trying out parts really easy.
I'll eventually go back and remix this eventually, especially if I were to ever jam out on the ending in a live scenario of some sort. I'm unhappy with some volume choices on certain parts and I think an entire section drops too low in the mix halfway through? I wrote this during 3 1/2 creative bursts over the second half of the week while I spent the first half sampling the entire rhodes moe harp from the same old smartphone I used to record the kaosilltor. Might even add into a travel music kit since it also charges on usb c. ( https://foldr.moe/harp/ ) for anyone that doesn't know about this yet, its got fm too.
I've only ever performed with full bands - i've played bass in a few projects over the years. Currently I'm doing a duo-collab synthwave projects that I say takes up all my music headspace other than the m8. So I'm still unsure of what genre I want to pursue as a whole. For now I'll keep up with the sampling/pocket operator supreme wave spirit bomb as see where we go from there.
peace!!!! stay safe out there!
