sans terre

By kaedo sevaada on January 27, 2018 3:07 pm

"I have met with but one or two persons in the course of my life who understood the art of Walking, that is, of taking walks--who had a genius, so to speak, for SAUNTERING, which word is beautifully derived "from idle people who roved about the country, in the Middle Ages, and asked charity, under pretense of going a la Sainte Terre," to the Holy Land, till the children exclaimed, "There goes a Sainte-Terrer," a Saunterer, a Holy-Lander. They who never go to the Holy Land in their walks, as they pretend, are indeed mere idlers and vagabonds; but they who do go there are saunterers in the good sense, such as I mean. Some, however, would derive the word from sans terre without land or a home, which, therefore, in the good sense, will mean, having no particular home, but equally at home everywhere. For this is the secret of successful sauntering. He who sits still in a house all the time may be the greatest vagrant of all; but the saunterer, in the good sense, is no more vagrant than the meandering river, which is all the while sedulously seeking the shortest course to the sea..." -Thoreau

Awesome sound! It really goes with the picture, and now I see wonderful shades of blue everywhere. The reverb and delays and voice help out nicely.

Swell sauntering song! I like that idea of sauntering. And I love the crunchy sounds of walking on snow, have been doing a lot of that this season. Thanks for the music and the great quote, I learned something new and heard something nice smile

Thank you for the lovely reflections - I love it when art evokes associations - colors - BLUE drexgar how cool! & that sound of crunching through snow miraclemiles - that was just a garageband walking loop but i was hearing that snow crunch too!... it seems these weekly beats pieces for me feel so much like a journal of my week or day or mood in a soundtrack format - it's nice when that thing that is so personal is also universal smile

Awesome sound... the voice is great with that high pitched glassy synth. And the walking in between.
This would be nice on video installation... put me some pictures in my brain smile

This is so great--that reverb is such an essential part of the arrangement, like mist on a forest path. You're really suspending time here!

Very calming peaceful track that makes me feel like I sauntered down a path in a dream-like state.  The high string def gave me that imagery.  Excellent atmosphere again too!  smile
