The Sound You Want

By Jokinen on January 19, 2020 7:47 pm

This week @mikememo, @demonzor, @Saucey-dough and I challenged each other to a "ghetto disco" week and I'm not sure I hit the ghetto or the disco on this track. This was definitely the hardest WB I've done between 2018 and the first few weeks of 2020. I had used DSK for the horns and the plug-in kept crashing which made the process frustrating and eventually once it worked I sent it to mp3 to be done with it so the horns are a tad loud. All in all I've never listened to so much disco in my life other than the past week and now that this track is done I'm happy.

your horns bring so much enjoyment to my ears. laughing out loud when they hit for the first time of the song because i love them. nice ghetto disco

he did a great job with the genre, too! - Abby

the horns are awesome! the horn melody is perfect. loving the bells

Dude! What the fuck kind of processing do you have going on those backup vocals?  That sounds so sweet.  What a hammer man, love the horns, disco guitar and the bell thing.  Awesome track.

Nailed it.

The bells almost give it like a horror movie vibe. Ghetto Horror Disco?? Lets make a movie. Crushed it Jim. Solid job.

Super Fun! Getting a serious Chicago vibe with that horn section, which is not something I've heard on WBs before.  Vocal "Imagineering" is cool.  You got your own back up vocalists with different sounds and personalities.  My only criticism is that it's too short!! This groove needs 8 minutes to stretch it's legs. Great work!

Oops... went to add to favorites and clicked on "Report Item" button by accident. Sorry if the cops are on the way.  But your nasty disco groove may be illegal in less funky jurisdictions.

Thanks man! I essentially pitched up the background vox a 1/4 step and threw a slight phaser on them.

Thanks! I noticed the Chicago vibe when I was done and if this were "Monthly Beats" I probably would have make it an 8 minute banger. I was using DSK trumpet VST which kept crashing, so the mixing was a bit of a pain with re-installing the plug-in every time I opened FLStudio.

Haha! Well if my grooves get summoned for being too funky, I'll take it.

I'll totally make Ghetto Horror Disco again! Thanks dude

Wow, I normally avoid horns like the plague in my own stuff -- this is making me doubt that decision.. nice work, totally nailed the vibe.

Thank you! I have never used horns in my entire musical career so this was definitely a challenge. I think they bring a nice element to the song and would definitely try for some background filler for future songs.

What a funky fresh track, the vocals seal the deal! heart

It definitely is.
