Haha, this was indeed an investment. But I think one well spent.
While the chord structure's super simple, your improvisatory melodies are quite pretty (especially on the guitar!) and justify it entirely. The background arpeggios are very nice, and I must say that trance section's super uplifting. The sampled vocals also add a lot to that last section there.
One thing I'm not so sure of is the breaks and kit samples used. They do feel a little out of place in a piece like this, although I do appreciate that you went over-the-top with this song. We need more of that.

I totally understand! Actually, starting this week I've been trying to be a little less lazy with my drums - particularly, trying to make my drums out of one shots rather than just slapping loops on top of my song and calling it a day, so I understand there are probably lots of problems there. Thanks for pointing that out.

Left pretty happy by lovely synth lead, then washed up on a desert island to ponder the earlier melodies with some lovely guitar...I realise it's all part of there same journey, the same 3 chords, the same trip, then that feeling brings on a giddiness and some lovely firefly synths! I really enjoyed the different synth parts especially the lead solo towards the middle.  The guitar is especially cool with the waves washing in and dang 7 tracks!? Grab hold of that inspiration!  Nice job!

Definitely some good moments amongst the track.  The guitar part is quite nice and blends well with the arpeggiated synth line.  Not a fan of some of the drums but hey...    The end is tied together nicely for the track.
