Spectral Ham

Right from the autoname title you can tell I'm back to the M8 land. A friend classified it as classic jimmac, which means absolutely nothing happening tonally, just a bunch of tediously entered spreadsheet of automation smile But hey, I can do it in bed and thus fill my weekly quota!

In all seriousness I just can't get enough of FM and amp on the M8. My favorite things.

These sound are so good! Love the little vocal sample too, really small detail but adds such an ambiance. Really enjoying the crunchy static punches. Gives me BoC vibes. Looking forward to more! Awesome work smile

Enjoying this track and the exploration of crackling and breaking up. Was that from pushing feedback to extremes? Love it!

This is great M8 work! That deep bass is really nice with the static pops up high.

The Fm and the amp on the m8 are so great. The bsss in this is such a nice warm droney hug against those delightful ear candy ping pong plucks, beautiful work!

ooh, really love these sounds - that zippy bass/pad thing at the start, the clicky punchy kick, the glitchy drums and background percussive synths. really dig the dark atmosphere. super cool track.

Excellent FM work. Really loving all the crunchy percussive bits and pieces.

Thanks! Yea I was going to spend some more time on the voice samples, but ran out of time.

What can I say? I'm not a subtle man. Dials go up to 11.

It's great to find other like minded people on the internet in 2024.

Thanks! Surrounded by all the positive news, I escape to the darkness in music. Oh wait.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I agree with your friend in that this track is a great example of jimmackian sound design: organic, evocative, and various parts introspective, monstrous, and enigmatic.   The blend of all the elements in this track produces a sense of scale and awe—behemoth subs slowly swirl and morph in the distance while smaller transients glitter amongst themselves in the foreground.

A spreadsheet of automation makes surprisingly atmospheric music! A track that creeps up on you.

yeah, love that deep bass. Great FM work!

heh, great description, and "spectral ham" is somehow awesome as a name. really like the sound design on display here.

really great sound design, nice used of well-placed delay / reverb on single hits

the intro really pulled me in. really nice elements throughout. nicely done!

The different rhythms that each of the sounds have are really nice. Lots of different FM organisms creating a superb atmospheric piece.

love these saturated/distorted tones that grind along with the rumbly kick, and all the gated crackliez you intricately placed with delay in stereo, makes me yearn for it when it goes away for even a sec, it's the perfect beat! heart
