Radium Girls

By jimmac on February 21, 2026 4:12 pm

While the first half of the track might seem close to dull, I made this one to please my daughter. This is the first track I made that she likes. None of that "toilet music" that daddy usually makes.

The name isn't very fitting to the style. Perhaps like me you are unaware about the term Radium Girls -- usually young girls volunteering to paint items with a glowing radium paint as a war effort. Enjoying a good feeling of doing a good thing and enjoying being center of attention at parties. With a rather sad tax to pay later.

Like the radium girls, this track deserves glowing reviews.  I particularly dig that chromatic shift in the bass in those moments while everything else cuts out.

The girl has very discerning taste! Cool track

oof. very cool track. but what a fucked up story. shamefully humanity hasn't learned enough lessons for this to never happen. see tobacco and plastic and teflon as just a few examples.

lol @ toilet music

I know two kinds of "toilet music": The dancetrack from the main floor that you can still hear while at the toilet, albeit severely dampened/muffled in some frequency ranges. And then there are venues, where there is music played in/for a restroom - ad-hoc or even officially by a DJ/Artist.

As for the track: Cyberpunky, and I like the bellish lead.

She meant more of an elevator music. Some shopping malls play the sort of ambient that is only a tad better than the sounds you usually enjoy from the stalls wink

Recently learnt about asbestos filters used in cigarettes. Insane.

Cool track, THIC bass! Love the little timing shifts in the beat, they help keep the relatively sparse beat interesting. That bright lead is a nice refreshing change of pace from that dark and heavy beat.
Sounds like your daughter has good taste in music wink
