Magnetic Hero

Honestly I did not want to face another year of grind. But it's good for me. I know this.

I have to preface every one of my submissions with a warning that this is in no way good. It's just exploration. It's forcing myself to spend at least an hour a week trying to make music. Whoever feels like listening to this, I am sorry.

With that out of my chest, here's the first M8 track that's not DNB. I can only imrpove if we set the bar real low smile Happy weeklybeating, fellow grinders.

"this is in no way good" - I kept waiting for the parts that weren't good, but I couldn't identify them smile. There are lots of interesting ideas in this track and they're already put together well. Good sounds, interesting rhythmic elements. I really think you need to revise the preface to your submissions.

Not good you say?? I think you should explore more!

Jimmac doing house claiming it’s not good is some fucking gaslighting, man! Love the bass on this and the dubby stabs… love your way, man, happy to see you on here. Welcome back! smile

Excellent to have jimmac back for WB2026, including the iconic "i-must-caution-everyone-that-my-great-sounding-thing-is-bad"-type disclaimers tongue

It's a genuinely head-nodding jam all the way through―feels like how I'd imagine Yuzo Koshiro might come across if he chilled out for a while during his early 90s EDM era (mindbending the sounds you can get from an M8)

I loooove that syrupy groove! We’re undulating in a psychedelic ocean of purple maple syrup. This has a lot of character. This is way good in my book.

this is a vibe. you're being too hard on yourself. great to have you along on the ride

Loving the gloopy bass and overall gauzy vibes. It's like you're at the club and everyone is dancing in slow motion

This is a nice jimmyjam. You keep playing with my emotions with that occasional doubletime delay on the main synth.

Oh man. You guys are way too nice. I didn't mean to endulge myself in self loathing with the intro. Was just giving you a warning perfection is not the goal and I'm just getting track done. Is all. And you guys are too nice. Just stop producing such bangers I'm forced to compare myself to smile

That's a lovely metaphor. It does drag a little smile

Drew, news anchor on WBTV: "This is a great track from jimmac!  Some really cool triplets and delay on this piece."

* producer hands Drew a note *

Drew: "BREAKING NEWS, THIS TRACK IS NOT GOOD."

* co-anchor looks shocked *

Drew: "Sorry folks, we're just as confused as you are, this is a live situation, please keep it locked on WBTV and we'll update you as the scene develops."

Tasteful pitch slides, and fun stuff from around the 1:30 mark.
