M8: ARK

By jimmac on February 20, 2022 5:04 pm

Had the pattern done like 2 weeks ago, but wanted to develop it into a nicer DNB track with lots of drops, but then I had to produce a short teaser so I butchered it for that purpose.

(drone racing event teaser)

However I still thought I'm going to produce a proper track for weekly beats. Instead I started 4 more and this one I had rotting in the corner. However as I was looking for footage for another project I found this old project of a friend powersliding his Miata in Most. Not having anything fast aced I figured I'll just do another mix of that tune. I've spiced up the end with some distorted guitar samples by Laser Dog Rob and rendered it out. No mastering, as always comes right out of the M8.

So good with the video. Love the rezzy acid

Man, the lead animated synth arp is classic jimmac sound. (I still remember getting the .bmx of the Candyman remix and trying to figure out how you've made PrimiFun sound like that w/ the slides, which I may have mentioned a dozen or so times already). Very old school, but nothing dated about it, so badass. The guitar works exceptionally well, maybe another thing to try and figure out how you made it sound the way it sounds. smile

Dude, I can barely remember that stuff. You're a walking encyclopedia.

The sheer amount of chunk on that lead is incredible and full beat is badass.  Did you do all the instruments directly on the M8 as well as the render?

(The 5-second stinger at the end of the second video is hilarious.)

Thank you, glad you like it. Yea I'm lazy and incompetent to do any sort of mastering, everything is made on the M8 here and rendered straight on the device. I only converted to mp3 using ffmpeg on the computer. It's also worth mentioning most of the instruments started with a preset (mostly by @mikey303). Again, laziness brings us forward!

Glad someone made it to the end. Unlike my friend driver I love that part smile
