M8: 1st Wave

Picked up and older track that wasnt going anywhere. It had this demo tune vibe to it, but I was on the DNB, pardon, DMB roll last week, so I just brutalled it into yet another breakbeat tune. Yes, I know I'm overdoing it with the delay>reverb, but I can't help it. The knob does go up to 11.

Drum programming around 1:30 in where it sounds like I'm in a forest of drums w/ a parallax effect of foreground / background motion is a remarkable effect. I love the synths at the end -- how did you get that effect at 4:05 where the high-frequency "bip" delays get all weird pitchshifty? Pitch glides in general here shine, as does the techy drum work. Adding this to my ever-growing collection of jimmac's tunes heart

(I think if I learned something from the track is that I need to use delay > reverb combo more (I played around with it after the last update that allows you to configure delay to be "predelay" for verb, which I thought was kind of awesome, since you have per-channel predelay configuration that way). M8 FX continue to inspire every time I bother tweaking the settings.)

Forgot to mention: the video makes me want a 3rd M8, and I haven't even got my 2nd one yet. The details on the key attachments under the actual keys is pretty remarkable, you Blender wizard you! heart

Whenever you ask about some genius move I did, it can be almost always attributed to a happy accident. In this particular case I don't even know what's going on. Instrument 01 doesn't have any LFOs, no tables, and yet it's stuck with that pitch instability on a successive playthrough. http://jimmac.musichall.cz/stuff/weeklybeats/WB-24-1STWAVE.zip

And yet again, the compliment cannot land on my shoulders. In this instance I've replaced my initial crude model with an overly detailed crazy model by sebastian szyszka (posted in #resources on discord).

I hope I don't come across as a dick saying this, but I find that whether it's an accident or not doesn't really matter. There was a Russian constructivist named Alexey Gan (iirc) who said that constructivist art is "material knowingly chosen and rationally deployed" (paraphrasing, maybe I got words wrong) and in music sometimes you have to capture / obtain / record / hear a sound first, but that doesn't really change the fact that it's an awesome AF moment that would not exist w/o you.

Thanks for the bundle -- since my SD card died need to replace my "STUDY" folder. smile

In the age of machine learning, that's probably the only way to look at things with at least a trace of optimism going into the future.

oh man the video!
And the coming and going breaks - lovely, breathing vibe.

lmao i immediately understood the "dmb" note because i'm catching up on 2 weeks' backlog of tracks i meant to comment on

agree, some demo vibes.  made me think of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAnhcUNHRW0 , though the music isn't super similar.
i've been racking my brain to figure out what other track this is super reminding me of.  best i can come up with is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gb3faOzvBk , which is the same key at least, but def not what i'm thinking of..

I'm glad the chopped amen didn't become the core of the beat; good build with it, but it didn't overstay its welcome, and made way for your own bespoke breaks
