Digitakt: Ancid

By jimmac on July 16, 2022 10:14 pm

Another single cycle wave jam. Took out the Digitakt. Even though I wanted some pads on the DIgitone, I just couldn't be bothered to hook everything up. Luckily I have modded my digitakt to have an internal battery so it's really a matter of turning it on and plugging in headphones to set up some patterns. Recording is still a chore though.

the hushed subtlety of all the sounds holds this sleek and sexy creepiness to it, i don't know how to describe, when the beat finally drops just feels so slick!

Awesome jam!  Enjoyed seeing the video.  What does "single cycle wave" jam mean?  I like the sparse arrangement... may even be better that you didn't add pads.

Thank you for the kind words. I still struggle with intentional song structure, but am happy with delaying the pads up until the end.

Apart from straight samples, you can play really short samples looped on the digitakt. And when I say short I mean really short. A single cycle wave "oscillators" on this wanna-be-synth.

whoa, internal battery mod is amazing

i've said it before, but your video intro is so amazing.

fun track , nice to see how you did it in the video

Thank you! Truly love when an actual musician compliments me. Followed this guide to get my digitakt off the grid if you're interested. Still have one of the balancer boards somewhere to do the same with my digitone. I'll leave it for the dull grey winter nights.

How long does the battery last? M8’s most important feature is that I can pick it up from the nightstand, make a loop, then pass out, and I can not do anything of the sort with my big stupid Elektron machines…

Love the ending the most, those delayed voice likes are amazing, acid sounds about as oldschool as possible, that sound takes me back, the rest roots me firmly in the future (or the present, but the present becomes past too fast…)

I haven't got a precise number, but it's quite a large 3 cell pack. I'd say I get about the same time from it as from the M8. Sadly it just freezes when you run out. Haven't had any file corruption though, it does a good job storing everything persistently.
