Spirit Animal (Mustelidae mix)

By Jim Wood on November 7, 2014 10:33 pm

Inspired by a limerick from our friend Sasha:

My spirit animal is, I think
A weasel, a stoat or a mink
It could be a ferret
But the way that I wear it
It's covered in bows, and it's pink

Vocals by SackJo22 "On The Threshold" (http://ccmixter.org/files/SackJo22/45827). Processed using CatStretch (highly recommended), Frexture and Geisterwelt Max4Live instruments. Nominally F# Minor.

Enjoyed this dude! Felt like a sentimental and reflective piece to me. Sort of when you can't get a string of recent events out of your head. Very cool.

Such a great dynamic: soulful and warm, yet post-human and machine-cold at the same time.  Great manipulations!

I certainly appreciate your appreciations :-)

This is a fantastic track. Very beautiful ! Love those voices and the subtle rhythm.

Cool gif and very cool sonic mangling. Pretty interesting how you make room for the original vocals inbetween all the high pitch/low pitch sweetness

Thanks, guys. Seriously, I'm just taking dictation (from the spirit animal?)  :-))

well obviously this is an A++ track!

Very cool experimental track here! It has a boards-style nostalgia to it that is really hard to capture in practice! Great work, Jim

Nice.  I like the way the "normal" vocals occasionally poke through the weird (but pretty) manipulations.  There is some sort of tribal feel I detect to it as well, which fits with the spirit animal theme
