Ophelia's Song

By Jim Wood on May 24, 2018 10:50 pm

Extensive editing over the period of a week. Vocals: Marinella Mastrosimone "Ophelia's Song." (http://www.ccmixter.org/files/musetta/63430).

I can picture a smoky bar from the 1940's, but it's as if there's a glitch in the matrix and it keeps flickering in and out of view.  Definitely intriguing stuff.

When the beats came in, I had flashbacks of Mathew Barney's Cremaster 3.  Loved the stripped back vocal trip at the start too. Kind of an uncanny valley feel to it.

Wow!  Such a cool overall effect with all those vocal samples, makes me want to try it smile  Inspiring!

Really trippy, well done! big_smile

so many edits and shades of a sample. very inspiring. thanks.

Very trippy song, the vocals especially are really mysterious. Great job with the drums, very tastefully done heart

Thank you, all!

This is fantastic! I made a wise choice listening to this with headphones.

This song is doing all the drugs.

Dystopian Blade Runner jazz club with broken android singers.

I love it!

Thanks, mutant lounge is what I was aiming at. ::)

Awesome trip, loved this, great work.

Great drums and really like the part where it slows down midway, great sample choice

Awesome!
Really good choice of of vouce sample! I like it when its dry like in the beginning... but i love it when you start processing it big_smile
The glitched drums are very cool on this one!

Oh man what a wild trip.  The glitch in everything is perfect.  I’d love to remix this one if I had the proper skills in sampling

my mind has cool movies/images/lights & colors sort of play when i listen to your pieces

Might be because I was primarily a painter for 30 years (1967-1997). And I love that Millais painting.

smile that makes sense & sorry that was so huge - but i love that painting too!

Beautiful editing and layering! Otherworldly. Crazy glitchy stuff going on.  The mix is sooo deep!

Glorious.  I'm getting a real chanteuse-on-muscle-relaxants vibe from this.  Nicely done!

Nice! Really excellent mixing. Reminds me of Laurel Halo's recent work. smile

Thanks all for your comments!

That's a... vaguely unsettling comparison. ::)

Just checked out her stuff on Soundcloud. Nice.

Man you are really creative!!! Your music kind of blows my mind, it's totally unexpected and unpredictable. And alien, man this is alien. Do you come from another planet? Or dimension?

Only if you think of Santa Fe as an alien environment (which in some ways it is).
