Hair of the Dog

By Jim Wood on August 29, 2014 4:26 pm

Vocals by DVEKZ "Keeping it Classic" remix contest (http://www.remixcomps.com/contest/dvekz-remix-contest). Vacuously cheerful march music from "Safety with Animals" (Grover-Jennings, 1961), tuned to G Minor. I started out using the voiceover from the film, but it wasn't working the way I wanted, so I swapped in the rap vocals.

It has a bit of a mechanical feel to it somehow.  Like robots or a clockwork band or something.  The rap vocals actually fit really well, considering the marching music.  Nice job as usual.

Yes, I hear what you're saying -- perhaps a bit too much quantizing/slicing.

I don't think it's a negative though.  It just creates a bit of a robotic vibe, which I think is cool personally.

Great chop-up job!

Great slizing again!

Doggonit!

Maintaining the kookiness factor I see  wink  Great edit work.  Very effective especially with the vocals.  Like a even more warped Zappa track this one  smile

Diggin the vocal effects and how they bend in and out

I really dig the vocal cuts! Nice work as usual, Jim!

Great beat--I think it works particularly because of the rap vocal source, since you get some stuff down in the kick frequency range.  Exciting!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The vocal chops remind me of Prefuse 73. Nice work pushing the envelope with those samples

Great blend of industrial groove and playful synth. The vocals really are the funky cherry on top though.
