Skips (feat. Parallelis a.k.a. Little D'wayne)

By Jetkick on March 18, 2012 11:58 pm

So here's a rap! It's pretty rappy, but I got as much music in there as I wanted. I think it sounds pretty nice, but C&C is always welcome. (In fact, if I don't get any criticism for this, y'all are inattentive listeners and can go suck a ice cube.)

Featuring Parallelis. Check his track out too! Some sort of trance-y, untz-y thing, apparently.

[Verse 1, Jetkick]
Let’s kick back, stop, take a Tic Tac
Sit back, backward- break like a Kit Kat
Hit that record ‘til it skips, skips, back, back,
Hyperlink that, but you shouldn’t double-click that

Let it go viral, spreadin’, watch it spiral
Out of control, and grow, familiar but chiral
Sounds like Egypt, like the beat’s a Pyro
Doles out the heat unique, a pizza gyro (It’s pronounced <yee-rro>...)

You wouldn’t eat that Greek? A swirl authentic
I like my Beats Antique, that world perspective
Translate long-distance fights, dialectic
Gonna be detective, gettin’ all dissective

Disrespected, why can’t we see eye-to-eye
And by the by, we’re all just tryin’ inside
But nowadays it’s like we ain’t got time to try
Or find the time to find where our mindset lies

[Chorus]
You’ve used up all your skips
You lose if you don’t quit-
You know you gotta go
You’ve crossed the highest peak
You’ve lost that winner’s streak
You know you gotta go

[Verse 2, Parallelis a.k.a. Little D'wayne]
Chill out, calm down
Stop flippin out
Please cease your shouts
As you can tell I’m going all out
I mean look, I am trying the best I can
But you’re doing it wrong, yeah man you need a plan

I said parts of society are just a lie to me
I guess what I was trying to see was right inside of me
So I’ll get up, get out, get motivated, alright
Yeah I’ll sit up, shut up, set out, start a new life

Rebuild from scratch, a new creation
You have the power to build, you have no limitations
You could eat a bagel, yeah capatchalog it in!
Hm, we gotta work on your imagination (Stat!)

Yet all ideas are the result of others
Of the surrounding circumstances, the advances of our brothers
We can transform, evolve, rebirth
These ideas that will, in time, change the earth (Nice verse!)

[Chorus]

[Bridge]

[Verse 3, Jetkick]
Breaking down why everybody’s breaking up
So take it down- the reasons why we’re taking up
Our vacant vows despite our always making up
And faking how we’re fine but we’re shaken up

And aching now; prepare because I’m making up
A statement now- You got a pen and paper now?
We’re waking up to all that’s at stake and how
We’re baking up a recipe for cake-ah now named

Disaster
I’m not your master
And I’m not tryin’ to act like I’m your pastor
That’s not what I’m after
But when there’s broken hearts and broken laughter
No happily-ever-after

Have to wonder
Did we screw up?
We skip our own blunders, and never grew up
And before I know it, our time’s through, up
In my mouth a little
‘Cause now it might be you up there

And you don’t really seem to care

I’m hoping that you start to care

[Chorus]

ha this turned out good! love the harmony you added in the chorus, and the interjections in my verse ;D

Great combo of instruments - sequencing is solid too; cool lil triplet breaks.  Vocals in chorus v creative.

One of the few non-nerdcore rap songs that I like.

Nice work.  Digging the groove.

The epic instrumental reminds me of Chiddy Bang! Chorus is so good!
