Pathetic

By Jetkick on March 11, 2012 11:37 pm

This piece accurately describes my spring break, spent in my dorm room. Yay?

But really, this piece is a milestone for me in three respects:
1. I have learned how to properly side chain, which you will hear in the organ and synths (but not in the bass; that's just plain attack)
2. I have learned how to pitch shift my samples; the voices you hear are (ugh) my own, terribly put together in a loopable format.
3. I have finally gone for that dubstep sound. You'll hear it at exactly four minutes and one second in. (Or something like that.)

So here's my trance piece, with a little dubstep. Hope you enjoy!

i like your style! nice work!!

I really like your use of sidechaining. I need to learn how to do that. Also, really good dubsteppy bit. You totally avoided that brostep crap and made it really subtle. I wish all dubstep sounded like that. I think you should try being a little bit more adventurous with your synths.

Good sound design. like Gatic says, we need more synth wizardry. ... I'll put a female sexy voice speaking on it. but that is 'cause I'm a fetichist. nice work.

why come you so good?

Thanks, everyone. I agree that I should start messing with my synths some. I haven't done a lot of that and am really curious as to what kind of noises I can make. For next week, though, expect a fun ol' rap featuring the commenter right above. Pretty pumped for it.

(also, brostep is one of my half-guilty pleasures, in that I can take pleasure in it as long as it features some sort of legitimate tonality)
