Mouse and Lion

By Jetkick on April 12, 2012 3:07 am

This is a track I wrote for my Theory 2 class. The assignment was to take a sequence of 12 consecutive chords from one of the selected Bach(?) chorales and loop through segments of that sequence to create your own style song of (up to) fifty measures. While there was an intended live performance aspect to it (everybody else had done some sort of piano/guitar/brass instrument arrangement), I asked my professor if I could just do it synthesized instead. He said it was fine, as long as it was good enough.

It was apparently good enough.

So here's a completely poppy drum & bass track with some "music box," organ and synth arpeggios. Not a lot behind it, but I hope you enjoy.

As usual, I welcome critiques/criticism. Especially on sound/mastering.

perfect mix of happy and intense and sugar and bittersweetness

Ahhh, I really like.  Love those chord progressions.

I love the music box sound! I want it.

love it!  the chords and melody are light and wonderful smile

great stuff!

Sweet as! Im going to call this Happycore because its so happy and so awesome-core

@tiasu: It's totally free! (Windows-only, I have to add.) http://myvst.com/index.php/vst-instrume … x-freeware
A little out of tune, quiet, and there's a lot of old-timey white noise, but here it is.

@Seagull Chainsaw: Unfortunately, "Happycore" (also known as Happy Hardcore) is already taken! But it's also an interesting genre.

I love how it's super fast then has those really relaxing bells in the background. (Also putting in the game was certainly a must)

wicked
