I started this out on the Octatrack, sequencing a DB-01 and some Samples from Mars into tracks with light FX. From there I thought “I’ll use the Arranger and some Scene transitions to make the song!” It turns out I don’t know how to use the Arranger or Scenes. So I dumped stems into Logic pretty early in the process and did all of the arrangement and most of the FX there.

I can’t describe what a positively transformative experience doing Weekly Beats has been for me. But if there’s one thing that makes me look forward to January 1st, it’s this. I’d have loved to dig in to the Octatrack. I wanted to get EZBOT’s performance template and bury myself figuring out what makes it tick and how to use it effectively. But any time I hit a snag that isn't on the direct path leading to a printed song by sunday, I have to let it go.

Which has lead to a lot of musical exploration instead of gear exploration. Which was the whole point. So job well done!

But also I miss gear ;-)
