Taking a break from my “figure out techno” attempts to do… whatever this is on the 404. I think I spent two days just trying to make the transition to B work. You’ll note I ended up with a simple reversed crash. Sometimes old tricks are the best tricks, I guess?

This is mostly me just playing around with the SWAM Sax collection. Their modeling is so good and so much fun with any sort of expressive/aftertouchy controller. The drums are Samples from Mars. Everything else, random loops from Splice.

Those vocals are great! From splice? Did you harmonize them?

Yes and yes! They’re from the wonderful IAMSIAM pack. So much good stuff there.

I play it pretty straight first (I think I have slapback delay on the “Ahahah”). Everything else is so lofi’d and the vox so great, I just wanted it to ring out with no FX. For the second round I pitch down a 3rd and 5th using the 404’s VariPhrase algo. It sounds so nice on vocals. I also randomly tweaked time-stretching to make it sound less vocodery and more like different people singing.

Not very long ago I would have put it through a chorus and called it a day. I can't believe how easy it is to do mindbending stuff now!

Nice, that's from Travis's label! I didn't realize the 404 could do that. Sounds great!
