Your Moves are Weak

He stares at you from across the dance floor, those piercing eyes reading your entire soul. He flicks his head as if beckoning you. You follow. You meet in the middle of the room. The flashing lights illuminate his face just a few milliseconds at a time, followed by prolonged darkness. You feel rivulets of sweat running down your temples and gathering into droplets under your chin, your bold dancing making them fly everywhere. You see his face approach yours as if he wants to tell you a secret, or maybe extend an invitation. You lean in. His voice, gentle as honey, warns you: "Your moves are weak."
### Production details
I don't know why, but recently it's been really difficult to make music that I'm happy with. Almost every time I start up a new project on the M9, a few moments in, I feel like I've made that exact same musical pattern hundreds of times.
To try and break this, I started a little differently: I began with chord progressions. Using the M8's MIDI Chord Trick, I programmed six really basic chords: Major, Major 1st Inversion, Major 2nd Inversion, Minor, Minor 1st Inversion and Minor 2nd Inversion. I then dropped a few notes in a phrase and noticed I had something that sounded a little dancy. I then altered the notes and chords for each one until I had a whole 8 bar loop I really liked.
From there, stuff started flowing much more nicely. I added percussion and had a ton of fun just playing around with adding and removing parts of the very simple percussion. That's almost half of the song just fiddling with musing/unmuting percussive elements.
Because it's me, I still wanted to add a melodic section, so I spent some time messing around with that and, after getting an 8 bar melodic loop I liked, I copied it a couple of times, jumbled it up and pitched it down once or twice to add some variety.
Oh, and all of this was done on Saturday afternoon because I knew I'd be out all day on Sunday. So this is one of the rare times I'm submitting almost a whole day early.
The visuals here come from Mio Moto's and Kronsilds' YAM8D web display app, which allow for super cool shaders like the ones you see here. The whole thing was already pre-built, I just made a slight modification to the shader to make the pulsating rainbow circle dance around in a figure eight instead of having it follow the mouse position.
No mastering outside of the M8 was done.
Also, the name of the song is a reference to this internet gem.

Sorry folks, I've been almost completely absent from the community. Work has been a lot and seriously reduced my opportunity to even listen to stuff while working. I'm hoping less stressful days are in the cards soon!
