Howdy folks!

I'm not quite sure what to say about this one, except that it's one of the lowest effort submissions I've made. I put it all together in the last 3ish hours and I'm quite underwhelmed by it, hahahahaha...

I've been trying to keep up with two regular music making endeavors: Weekly Beats and the M8 Community Jam. If you're reading this, you probably already know that WB is due every Sunday. The issue is that the M8 Community Jams are also due on Sundays. Thankfully, the Jams have a more lax schedule: songs are only due once every three weeks. But that means that once every three weeks I have two songs due on the same day. Until now, whenever these submissions have coincided, I have been able to create separate songs for each one of the projects, but days like today are a strong case for me to consider some consolidation, hahahaha... For future Sundays where both songs are due, I might just end up sending the same song to both.

So yeah, not super happy with this one. But hey, not all weeks can be winners, right? And yes, I know I've said this about MANY of my submissions by this point.

Anyways, there wasn't anything really special on this one. It was made fully on the Dirtywave M8 and it was done using mostly internal synths except a handful of samples near the end section.

Looking forward to listening to people's submissions!

2 on the same day sounds intense.  That said I quite liked this one, for whatever reason it made me think of the closing scene of a video game as the credits are about to roll in the PS1 or N64 era.  More evocative of the time than a nostalgic feeling though, very cool.

I can barely make it through every week's WB, so I can only imagine your struggle. I'm now curious to hear your submission for the community jam.

That's quite the challenge you've got going for this year.  Some weeks are def tougher than others to get something out there.  Love the fast progressive pace to this and those lil tinkly melodies on top of the drums.  The bass drum has a cool sorta Pipe quality like it's from Blue Man Group's funky instruments smile

I liked it! Liked the sample fragments at ~0:40. And you're a madman for doing different songs for both, I didn't even consider for it a second, ha. Just dual submissions and not every community jam either, heh. Honestly I like the community jam format best, two weeks is fairly forgiving but also not too long. But WB is almost half over!

The bass drum on this has some sub, eh!? Yeah, the schedule is pretty unforgiving for WB, I can't imagine trying to whip off a second track every 3 weeks.

ah! didn't even know about m8 jams... maybe for the best XD

This track is actually not bad, but the kick kinda masks it? I would say, if you are in a pinch, maybe better go with samples or presets for drums since those are pretty forgiving when being used as is.

Another thing I am finding out is to be more careful about having a "build up" progression where the song just add elements constantly then ends. My two latest tracks are just a loop stretched to 3 mins+ using a more build up/deconstruct approach which works surprisingly well (i.e. I thought people who not like those track because they are kind of repetitive, but I seem to get good feedback on them? Plus I don't really feel annoyed about the repetition when I listen back to them...)

Anyway, don't mind me! haha food for thought, should you want any wink

Don't feel bad about consolidating. I do that all the time with the Disquiet Junto projects. It's wonderful that Weekly Beats doesn't really give you any challenges / prompts for the week. You can do whatever you want. So when there is an intriguing prompt at the Junto, I take it, and base my track for WB on that. No rules broken, and the communities are largely separate anyway!

As for the low effort track = not bad for three hours! Definitely happy you keep sharing!
