amphitrite point light

By Jason Nijjer on August 7, 2022 7:45 pm

Was in Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada last week, absolutely beautiful place.  One morning went for a walk around the lighthouse, unfortunately it was a very foggy morning and could not see expansive views but the fog laden landscape had its own beauty.  As it was foggy the fog horn was running, recorded the fog horn sounds and the birds with the ocean waves on the iphone and used them this week as inspiration for this one.  Coincidentally LABS also released fog horn inspired sounds this week which came in handy.  Can check out the lighthouse here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphitrite_Point_Light

That sounds like a really cool scenic point to visit.  I can def feel the fog inspiration with the dark deep pad swells and the echoing guitar line.  The pace of the guitar and pads felt like it was in time with the swaying of the current.  Damn spitfire has released so many new instruments I'm so far behind lol.  I'll have to check this one out.

you mixed all the recordings so well with the musical elements, it feels like the foghorn/birds/waves are all instruments themselves. it holds that delicate feel of a single flame, trembling in a windy fog. nice one!

I felt this, Fav.
The lighthouse wiki page gave a grounded context.
Real.

Oh nice, I love real in field recording! The fog horn is haunting. The sound of birds and waves is really nice, especially as it's not a sample from splice but something you captured yourself. I love the way you built from this sample and added these layers that come in like waves. That sergio leone like guitar is a very nice touch. The vocal around 2:14 is haunting as well. So many very subtle elements here and there that contribute to building a cinematic feel. Favoriting this one, will need to listen to it more and more and with headphones.

a wonderful track and a beautiful spot on earth.
