Cocoon

Something summery, dancery, sunset-drinking-on-the-balcony for you today.

Kinda playing it safe with this because I didn't have a lot of time, but the one new thing I experimented with this week has been to use the Bitbox Micro as a looper at the start of my master insert chain - meaning the main mix of all voices (except the kick, which is separate for sidechain reasons) are multed into the Bitbox, where I can trigger a 4 bar recording, and then crossfade between the recording and the live audio. All this before my end of chain performance effects, i.e. the Desmodus Versio and Oxi Meta. You can see me use it at 4:25 with the crossfader - at which point I prepare the mixer for what's coming after the next drop.

Patch notes:
- Bass from Manis Iteritas Alia via Doepfer SEM and WMD Javelin
- Monumatic through Imagènes as the main chord voice
- Moog Subharmonicon, now racked on the upper shelf, through Rings, then QPAS, then a VCA for the secondary background harmonies.
- Vhikk X for the ugly breakdown intermission
- Drums are my usual, but I've got them all patched into Vortices as a submixer before they go into the main mix via the Koszalin freq shifter. Bohm separate as usual.

Enjoy!

Dude, this ROCKS!!! Such great transitions! super dancy, feels great!!! got me head bobbin' real hard!!!

One of your best yet, man! Insanely jankless janky jam.

Sounding good. Your transitions between parts are very effective. I struggle to do that with my modular.

Thanks! It's the hardest thing to do in modular... hence why it's one of my goals to get better at during this WB year! Happy to trade tips if you want

The risers for the transitions here were comparatively simple actually: Desmodus at high regen, turning up the blend and tone. Oxi Meta in Delay mode. And a simple white noise -> high pass -> reverb wash. The thing that unlocked it for me though was the Neuzeit Drop, because it lets me cue the drop and blend the risers in automatically, hands off. Very useful!

really great track! love how it develops across the runtime

great track \0/

This is the username police. We're revoking your rights to further use of the name Janky Jams, because these jams are way to good to be classified as "janky". Also we'd like to extend our appreciation of said jams, and our jealousy of the Vhikk X. Thank you for your cooperation.

Powerful. This is a lovely groove. I had to look up Neuzeit Drop. You made it work nicely.

5 seconds in and my head plays "Bad Guy" smile then it somehow diverts and enjoys the tune you made. Nice and chill track, like it.

Great work! Incredible done on modular heart
