Jam WB 03

Everyone was doing breakbeats so this week is a quick little play in how I could get a nice system to break up some beats in Cubase with a bit of generative random plugin chain.

I settled on running a plugin I like called RandARP to send out random midi notes in a scale to another plugin that does audio chopping (that you can midi trigger) called Infiltrator that I use live sometimes.

Then I made an automation track that lets me ramp the probability of the notes playing up and down and it gives me the ability to slowly ramp up random break glitches.

Pretty happy with this method! The track is pretty simple but it's more an experiment than anything. Chops are pretty messy but eh. PS1 vibes always. I like starting with clean stuff and mooshing it up with phasers and slow LFO filters these days. Get yourself TAL Filter if you haven't.

Sexy as hell. Amazing edits on the glitchy breaks. I don't think it's messy at all. It's got a great balance between traditional d&b breaks and modern glitch forward tunes. That synth out of the chute is lush and WET. Amazing stuff.

Nice to hear you busting out the breaks!  Great trills - very EBTG ;-)

(tip: on the chops I always drop them -3db or -6db because they have so much more power... I leave the transiant one (first one) then dip the rest so they don't take over the track... sounds like you've done that a bit here too)

thats some incredibly tasty jungle! instant favourite!

Cheers! Those are good tips! I brought some of them down a little but I think the harsh ones could definately drop a bit more!

Thanks heaps heart

super solid breaks work and atmosphere!  i caught the breakz bug from last week at first too but it dissipated and i got diverted to other ideas lol.  maybe i'll go back to it this week hehe

hell yeah, fun stuff!

Yesssssss! A Jamatar track with breaks is always a blessing. Sounds like a fun chain you've set up to generate the breaks! More jungle coming soon????

this hits the spot, really well done, especially the 2nd half

The breaks are ok to my ears. very ethereal chords and twinkles.

Those sparkling chords have some lovely effects applied to them

Interesting process, and you shaped some real pretty results with it. Nice work!
