So, I wrote the original iteration of this song roughly ten years ago and performed it at a few solo acoustic gigs, but I never got around to recording it. As with most of my songs written with acoustic and voice, I had other layers in mind to flesh it out, but the main hindrance for this one has been an uncertainty of how I wanted the drums to be, so I kept putting it off.

This week though, I thought I would have a more focused play around to see if I could find a beat, and I think this one works well enough. I also changed some of the lines that were essentially placeholders in the original version (yes, I was performing it a bit unfinished and internally cringed each time I got to one of the placeholder lines). I think maybe this isn't quite the version I was hearing in my head, maybe a bit too janky/busy in certain parts, but at least it exists outside of my head now.

Maybe I am just a fool for believing that we all belong on the pages in the same book of life
