The Jesus Disease

Soooo tired... This began as a placeholder for another song I am working on that needed more time, but this quickly evolved beyond the easy filler tune it was supposed to be. It isn't quite where I want it to be, but that's what happens when I typically leave myself an evening to do what I could have done earlier in the week. I tried to tinker with less linear structures again but I don't feel confident this build is 'it', particularly the middle guitar/vocal bit, I wanted it to juxtapose the rest, but instead I feel like it comes across as out-of-place hmm

The theme is pretty self-explanatory, I was raised in religion, even after leaving it many years ago I found myself apologising for it until recently, I have now gone 180 and have come to see it for what it really is, so this is a bit of a vent on that. The term 'new light' is what "they" use to describe revised rules and such, but the more 'new light' was revealed as the years passed, the more it became apparent they're just making it up as they go and the revisions are purely to appear more accessible to get the numbers up, not because of divine guidance.

New light, new lies

Heaven is a lie
There are no gods or angels
Let it go
There's no saviour or sacrifice
When you know
It's just weaponised desperation
You see it all
No slave to a son of god

Jesus
He's like a disease in the heart
The heart of the world

This is great - the guitar opening is nice & sharp. The quiet lyrical opening is a nice peaceful island before the darkness comes back. The main body just after 2 minutes has the feel of that seething early-2000s industrial rock. Definitely keep playing with the arrangement and presentation - I think you can expand this into a 6-minute epic dark industrial prog rock masterpiece.
Also, congratulations on escaping. It takes years for that grip to loosen, but that initial break is the start! Keep venting as long as you need to, especially if you can channel it into more music.

Still hilarious you forgot it was Easter lol. But the contrast here is the winner, gentle then not, still cool melodic content but the stabs hot harder etc. A great breakaway from the norm

I like this! Great sound on the guitar and vocals, also, those harsh synth sounds that give a slight off balance feel. I see what you mean about that first break being maybe a little out of place. I wonder if it could be shifted later in the song - make it go harder first with the drums, then quiet it back down with the guitar/vocal break, then make it go hard again.
