Shadows

I don't know much about jazz, nor do I claim this is anything like 'proper jazz' (whatever that is), but it's likely the closest thing to jazz that I'm likely to write any time soon, so it is whatever it is. It has a half diminished chord, so that makes it jazz, right? =oP I originally envisioned a brush kit for this, but seeing as I'm very unlikely to need that sort of thing again, buying a plugin to achieve that seemed a bit unnecessary, so... just use your imagination...?

The idea for this song came from a dream I had (partially similar to real life experience), where I had just left a long term relationship, and a girl I had known a while started hanging out with me in a sweet supportive way, which was really helpful in dealing with the break up. But as we started getting closer, heading towards rebound territory, I felt it was the right thing to do to try and reconcile with my ex.  This caused the girl to become very possessive and obsessive, and from that point, the visuals I can recall from the dream are that of waking in the middle of a stormy night to a creepy back-lit silhouette of her at my window while I was in bed with my partner, and then checking my phone to see 27 missed calls and messages (on a Nokia 3310, go figure). When I looked back at the window, the silhouette was gone, but I started hearing strange noises in the house. I woke up shortly after, pretty freaked out, and the first thing that came to mind was the opening line and melody, so I recorded it on my phone (not a Nokia 3310), and gradually made something out of it, resulting in what I now present to you all =o)

Lyrics:

Is that your shadow on my window?
Are those your missed calls on my phone?
Is that you creeping through the backdoor?
Because I fear I'm not alone.

It started out as something innocent
It started out as something sweet
You turned my life into a nightmare
It's near impossible to sleep

Is that your shadow on my window?
Is those your footsteps in my home?
I hope it's my imagination
Because I fear I'm not alone
Because I fear I'm not alone
Because I fear I'm not alone
Because I fear I'm not alone

Great sounding track Jai, I love the riff. I'll be more organised for our collaboration next time.

Some tasty chord choices bro. Tight. Cant be Jazz, the notes aren't wrong ;-)

Nice voice and a great song

Much thank, RyRy, and no worries at all, family first =o)

This is true, my irrational fear of playing wrong notes is holding me back from being real jazz =oP

Very cool. I really like your vocals and guitars, I kind of missed your first weeks. Good stuff.
