No Way Home

By Jai Cafarella on May 12, 2024 9:51 pm

This is classic Jai doing Weekly Beats; total 'wtf just happened?'.

Had no motivation, typically left it until Sunday arvo, picked up the guitar and the verse riff is the first thing that happened. Verse melody happened pretty quick but the chorus took a bit more time finding something that didn't sound too typically me. The music came together reasonably quick, but my goodness, writing lyrics with zero motivation suuucks... I almost left it as an instrumental, but here I am at 7am, finally done.

So much life stuff happening keeping me in a perpetual downer, so today when I tried to get motivated with some house stuff, I just started looking at all my stuff like "what's the point?", so that flowed into the lyrics a bit.

Bits and pieces I have found
Life's collection all around
All I've gathered, all I've gained
When I leave, what will remain?
Dust-encrusted memories
No doubt they will die with me
Wasted wisdom never known
Never spoken, never shown

There's no way home this time
And I'm supposed to live like I understand
Dissipating the pain, I disassociate

Trinkets, treasures, oddities
Nothing I can take with me
Truth be told, they weigh me down
I need to escape this town

There's no way home this time
And I'm supposed to live like I understand
Dissipating the pain, I disassociate
Sick of wasting my time alive
And I'm afraid that I'll never live
Sick of hating myself, but how can I forgive?

The delivery of your vocal performance is SOLID!

I really like the no non-sense rock chord progression with nice thick guitars.

Take care man!
