This is kind of a cheat week for me, busier than expected, so I created this using an old simple piano idea as a base (too old to admit). I don't really consider this a song in the traditional sense, as it's more of an exercise in furthering my familiarity with Studio One, to see what happens when I unearth old ideas I had no plans for, and to let the guitar talk while resisting the urge to add vocals.

It was an enjoyable process nonetheless, because I often have a lot of ideas in my head by the time I finally get around to recording a song, so simply loading up an old idea, giving it some form, then freely noodling over it and make something of it was pretty cool. Not having a clear plan has often contributed to my mental blocks convincing me I shouldn't try, so I guess another part of this process was to help me see a plan isn't always necessary to get started.

Cheers again to Nyarlos for the buff and polish (master) =o)

So good to see you getting right into it, the effort is totally worth it. And as I said yesterday, harmonized guitars for the win

The intro is adorable, the guitar parts somehow makes me think of Chrono Trigger. It's definitely a great song, possibly in the traditional sense too. That's one thing WeeklyBeats'll put you through, you're never going to be the worst or the best in a week because someone, somewhere, will like what you're doing.

Also, improv is hard, not just to do, but to agree with one's own results, I can only say you did well here layering the guitar.

Great work Jai, it's excellent seeing you really commit to this.

Yeah, it really is. Having the weekly goal, even when I feel short of time and/or unmotivated, it feels good having at least stuck to the deadlines so far =o)  And yeah, guit-harmonize is the shiz! =oD

Thank you, it's interesting you mention ChronoTrigger, I luuuuuurve that game, spent forever on it back in the day! Whether I subconsciously 'went there' for this track or not may remain a mystery, but the original piano MIDI file I used as a starting point is timestamped 1999, so it is quite possible there may have been at least a little underlying CT influence there, or possibly Secret of Mana. SNES J-RPG's were amazing! *getting all nostalgic*

I'm glad you enjoyed this, as I was pretty unsure how/if it would land, because it's quite different to what I would normally do =o)
