Lost In The Static

By Jai Cafarella on February 13, 2022 7:39 pm

Another little guitar riff that's been sitting in the bank for a while, I thought I had a pretty decent idea of where it might end up. I was very wrong, but largely due to pure laziness this week (I got the basics started 3 days before deadline, but didn't touch it again until 3 hours before deadline *facepalm*).

Although it is nothing like what I envisioned, it is also quite different to how it started out. Early on it was sounding way too clean and 'easy listening radio friendly' for my tastes (hence the lack of enthusiasm to get back into it), so I purposefully filthed it up with an underlying static track and made the guitars sound rough and muddy, hence the title.

I had quite a few ideas in mind for this, so the way I originally thought this would go may eventuate one day, but for now, this at least serves as a means of not forgetting the riff while I decide if it has any further potential or not.

Lovin it. Wish it went for several minutes tbh.

I second Haleja, let that shit play out, the textured guitar lead was so good, you could extend it and give us even more sweetness, just a nice overall feel from the whole thing

this is cool- at first i thought the static was a plane engine, it gave it some cool context, i like the muddiness

You will likely pick up pretty soon (if you haven't already) that a lot of my entries will have a 'this could have gone longer' vibe, because I am notorious for leaving it til the 11th hour, so the bigger overall ideas get trimmed down sad You'd think I'd learn, but... no... ehe...

I really did want to have more on offer, but you know me tongue It's ironic though, I'm liking the sound palette that's there now, but they were the last minute changes I made in an attempt to steer it clear of the 'too clean' basic version. So now that it has a more inspiring vibe, I would like to flesh it out like I originally had in mind. One day...

Hehe, I thought the same! I didn't want to give it an aviation related title though, in case no one else heard it as a plane. Thanks smile

Dude yes!

So much good guitar based content this week.

Agreed w/ above.  This begging to be a 6 minute ambiet masterpiece

I really love what you're doing with the guitars. Also the drums. And the bass too, really.

I love the mix of soft and harder elements on this one. Nice guitars tones!
