Father's Day?

By Jai Cafarella on September 1, 2024 8:09 pm

Content warning and apologies to the dads that didn't get to be dad for father's day.

This month marks five years since I've seen my children because of their mother. I've been in business mode so long through the legal battle so far, I've become so numb to any sense of fatherhood. I kinda needed to let a little of the emotion out.

This idea snippet (the opening chord riff) has been floating around since 2015 so I added a couple of layers to make it a little more interesting, intending to leave it at that. Then I started humming over it, oops... And yeah, unintentional theme, but I guess it was to be expected considering the vibe of the day.

We are one and the same

My place in your heart has faded
I'm incomplete without you
We are long separated
And nothing can replace you
When I watch the sky I hope that you are too
The day we see eye-to-eye I'm looking forward to

I'll be ready and waiting when you wanna meet again
We can get reacquainted and I'm holding on til then
We've missed out on so much for this one life
I hope that we can reclaim it and I'm holding on til then

We are one and the same
(I'm holding on til then)

wow, what a touching song. This track is excellently produced/mixed, the doubled vocals are so sick. Amazing job, unfortunate situation but glad you were able to channel your emotions into this awesome creation.
