A pretty crazy week for weeklybeats - I had been working on three ideas that were all about 50% of the way done, then Thursday evening rolls around, I play a little chord-y thing around an A chord and suddenly a fourth idea is thrown into the mix - and that is what you are presented with here.

This song was blocked out pretty quick - in terms of songwriting and arrangement, nothing particularly crazy - pretty stripped back in terms of guitar layers and really focussed on writing a more interesting vocal line. Also trying to experiment with different structures, trying to break out of the vanilla V/C/V/C/B/C kinda thing - let me know what you think!

Anyway, I quite like this. Something familiar, but different for me... and it's not in Open C tuning!

Have a great week!

Lyrics:
turn the tv on
crank the sound to
drown out the
morning
i fill my coffee cup
with the thought
that i missed the
warnings

how many days
were you gonna be there
how many nights
with only me here
when were you thinking of letting me know
that you were thinking of letting me go

turning up fir someone else
i had to be there for myself

I throw a t shirt on
Down a beer
And go grab the paper
Go back and lock the doors
Close the blinds
And ignore the neighbours

It's been so long since we have seen her
I can't believe it's been a whole year
How much longer can I go
Pretending you never let me go

Scroll through my phone
Look at the texts
Rewrite the part
Where you are an ex
Try to forget
The things that we said
Try to remember
What should've been next

What would oit take
To win you back
How much I would give
To get back on track
If only we could
If only you would
If only I could take it all back

Verse melody
Turn over in the bed
Stare at the wall
And drift into space
Look at the gap that you left
Close my eyes
And go back to our place

This is really nice stuff and a very full production to get done in a week.

Great sounds on the guitars, the arpeggios have a real chime to them.

Solid chord change on the bridge, into "What would it take" builds up the intensity nicely.

Intimate sounding but very present. The vocals are awesome, and your lyrics are great as usual. I love the ending (both mood and presentation).
