Skylights

Getting in early this week as I'm away, so finished off the most complete idea I had floating around!

My Wife often says I only write sad, depressing songs, so here is proof to the contrary! 1/18 songs being happy seems a fair ratio I'd say...

Guitar was tuned FADGBe - again, just trying something slightly different to switch things up and think outside of easy mode.

Vocals have been heavily processed - I wanted an overtly tuned, almost robotic kind of sound to it. I quite like it, but it won't be to everyone's taste. Also continuing to experiment with harmonies and other vocal techniques.

Lyrics are oddly spaced... In a way, I feel like they are missing something in some places, but this is what I ended up with! Enjoy! Thanks again for listening.

our usual programming of Sad-Mopey-Emo-Jangle will return next week.

Lyrics:
The streetlights hum a quiet tune
Casting shadows on the moon
Your voice echoes in the breeze

I count the stars like distant friends
The road curves but never ends
Every step is you and me

[Chorus]
Streetlights talk when the world goes still
They whisper dreams
They bend my will
Flickering truths
They keep me near
Even when you're far from here

[Verse 2]
The pavement cracks
A map of time
Each break a story
Each line a rhyme
I hear you laugh as you leave

The clouds roll by
A restless tide
They carry words I never tried
To send

Streetlights talk when the world goes still
They whisper dreams
They bend my will
Flickering truths
They keep me near
Even when you're far from here

Foot was tapping from the drop! Such a smile on my face.

Serious mid-90s college rock feel. I like what you did on the vocals - the classic auto tune sound isn’t that apparent, so it mainly just gave you that smooth tone quality, made me think a little of Owl City that way. Great lyrics as well. Even when it’s a happy song, there’s a seeming undercurrent of sadness with some of the imagery that works so well. Great work, another favorite smile

I love this. Your guitar and vocal work hits that alt-rock sweet spot for me. There is a persistent melancholy in your vocal despite the upbeat song, which I count as a strength.
