Abrasion

Feeling less inspired lately. Missing my studio.

Very abrasive. Those noise-derived beats are almost too much. But in a good way...

Thank you, in a good way! I honestly have no idea how good my mixes have been lately since I haven't had an opportunity to hear my tracks on monitors, and I'm not even sure how good the response on these headphones are yet.

Sounds good to me.. But then again... I don't actually own any monitors... Straight up headphones mix every time.... This is a really cool exploration of the ipaghost sound into other directions... Still maintaining a little playfulness and whatnot....

I don't even have decent monitors, which probably explains a lot.  I try to listen on various headphones and regular speakers before releasing, but that doesn't always pan out. (no pun intended)

Anyway, I like this.  It's nice to explore away from your normal directions.

Really really good track. Appropriate title. Shared sentiments about missing inspiration.

Dude, are you sharing hotel with Trent Reznor? Dope quasi-industruial beats... Glad to see you wondering (so well) into so many musical directions.

By the way, I can feel you when you talk about inspiration... It's difficult sometimes not to repeat the same old scheme smile

Thanks! I'm glad I can still maintain my ipa sound throughout other genres!

I totally recommend a pair of decent, flat response monitors. Ideally you should go back and forth between the headphones and monitors until it sounds great on both. The KRK V8s are the best investment I have made in my music to date, and that was about 10 years ago, they are still going strong and sound great. My mixes have been much better ever since. Probably not clinically flat, but for the price they are pretty amazing, and the bass response is impressive without subs (I would get complaints if I cranked them). Also the cones are made from Kevlar, which proved to be useful when someone broke into my apt and tried to steal them. I chased them out and they dropped one down a flight of balcony stairs... and they still sound great!

Thanks! People always tell me that my music is going to get better over the year, but sometimes I feel like it's getting worse! I have always felt my music is much better after an extended break to think of ideas.

Ha! I wish! This track could totally use some Reznor vocals! Glad you picked up on that, the beat is practically the same as the one in Closer. I probably heard Downward Spiral a million times when I was in high school. I really dug his production skills. Oddly, I never paid much attention to the lyrics...

I really dig those dirty sounds!
and nice simple arrange!
( = I usually fill my song with way too much tracks, got to learn how to keep it simple)

This really sounds Gary Numan-ish to me. Very cool... I'm a huge fan, he's partially responsible for my interest in electronic music... and if I keep typing, I'll show my age. Ha!
Nice track.

Thanks! I typically have this problem too, but working away from my studio forces me to "Keep it simple, stupid" tongue

Admitedly, I'm only familiar with Numan's earlier hits which were more new-wave synthpop (which were pretty excellent). I'm actually surprised to learn that I was born the same year Cars came out. I always assumed it was an 80's song.

Very thick and funky.

hell yeah, those rough lo-fi sounds are amazing. The beat is in your face and the fragile detuned leads are fabulous. I'm really impressed by your musical variety (or email-checking-skills? i can't say smile )

gaaahhhh I love this sound! was attempting something like this 2 weeks ago and failed. gotta try again smile

You can do it! Just act like Trent for a day and spin around in the air like a dead rat. Worked for me!

Def hear the Reznor influence in there, but the synth bass reminded me a bit of Big Black Delta's "Huggin & a Kissin".  Either/or this is an awesome track!

Can't say I've ever heard BBD, but now I'm glad I have! Thanks for the great suggestion TM!
