Thanks!

Renoise Crew Assemble!

This is a really good clash of genres, kinda like trapindustrial? I really dig the sound design
Also thanks for making me discover Surge XT!

Renoise Gang in Da House! LOL.

Yeah man, I was going for a trap + Numetal type sound. I love the Renoise Distortion FX. Signal follower + Distortion = great sounds.

Glad you like it and that you now know about Surge XT. Great VST, tons of presets, opensource and great documentation!

I am just getting started with the Tracker Mini and I am loving the tracker workflow. I like how full the song sounds with all of the layers. That is something I need to work on. Good job!

Thanks man. Good luck on your Journey with the Tracker Mini.

obsessed. it feels like what you'd get if you took a triphop track from the Matrix soundtrack and put it on angry pills. jammed so hard I literally kicked the power strip off for my speakers on accident.

this goes HARD. So good!

thanks for these tips. i'm just starting looking outside the renoise box for other vsts and effects. Anything else you'd recommend to take a look at?

Yeah, If you want big drums or something to stick on your mastering chain for an easy boost/glue, use camel crusher( free ). Disable all effects except the compressor knob. Turn that up to your liking. Camel phat is better, but harder to obtain.

Use Youlean Loudness Meter (on the master track and free) to help gauge your loudness. I recommend downloading other commercial tracks you want to sound like (or better than ;-) ) and comparing their loudness and frequency response (using the Renoise audio visual tools), so that you can can get your track closer to a commercial sound.

For free VSTs look into the following:

Free orchestra by Project SAM (I and II)

Gameboi VST

Vital Basic

The following website has a ton of stuff. https://bedroomproducersblog.com/free-vst-plugins/

If you have some cash to invest into music production, then find a few VSTs with low cost and buy them based on their sonic profile (talking $40-$100 dollar range).

Also realize that this craft takes dedicating time and a slight obsession to get to a state where you rise above the "noise".

So try your hardest to just sit down and work on the weak spots ( for me, I have good a melodies and piano skills, but have  a weak spot of stale drums, so I try to work on drum patterns as much as possible using youtube and playing with renoise, just drum patterns,etc..)

Good luck on your music making journey.

P.S
------------------
I tend to work in reverse. I apply all of the mastering effects, like limiters, compressors, EQs and exciters on the mastering track, then make music starting off of that point. It like clay sculptors, where they start with a mass of clay but then slim it down to a work of art. Some people may consider that heresy, but for some reason this clicks with my brain.
