Tapestry

This week I tried working out how iHz gets such lyrical performances out of wavsynth, and I'm still parsing through the bundles from Disposable Planet's M8 album (protip: go get it).

So this track started with one goal: pack a wavsynth melody with as much expression as I could manage.  But wavsynth turned out to be a lot more versatile than I'd originally thought ("NES/DMG waveforms == just for chiptune, right?") and things got carried away.  Now I have a 6½ minute WB track and have run out of phrases!  The project went off proper chiptune rails almost immediately, and I never came close to figuring how to sing like iHz. tongue

All sounds (except some drum samples) were made from scratch using the M8's on-board synths.

100% made and mixed on a Dirtywave M8 Tracker.

Your sound design is incredible throughout, but the bass elements particularly stand out to me (I love how they cut through the mix w/o overpowering anything). The lead does remind me of iHz, but I think this one's very much unlike either DP or iHz: it sounds uniquely yours. Also, massive, expansive, star-like, badass. heart F&D, obv.

This is lovely!   That main motif is haunting and very expressive in its variation. The bass is rolling and nice.   I’m glad you took inspiration from my music and made it wholly your own!   It’s got a unique and slightly 80s vibe as well.   Well done.

The lead line is soaring, epic, emotive, and quite pretty at the same time.  Nice work.

Incredible work.
Major props eating up every phrase.

really enjoy how this sort of weaves and stitches into the different parts - tapestry indeed!

Love the melody and the lead sounds, sound chiptuney but also very very warm, really striking a perfect balance

This is so beautiful, all sorts of hidden details all around, I could sink into this.

Super tasty, love the melodies, your patch sounds great, I kinda wanna dance.

I love the palette of sounds you're using on this track. The beat is very round and you have these sweet rubbery synths, a bit like sea mammals singing under the sea. That's a good one!

Amazing sound you're getting from the M8. Great melodies and super catchy dance beat.  I like what you do with the extra kick beat in the pattern that comes up every once in a while.

Excellent pace throughout the song.  The lead melodies are awesome and expressive.  Well done!

Holy wow! Firstly, I'm beyond honored that you drew inspiration from my music! This melody absolutely sings! Especially the bit starting at 1:30 and 2:30. And it just keeps getting better - the part at 4:00 and the way the track ends are both super sick too!

This track has so much emotion - the singing melodies, atmospheric instruments, slight tempo changes, etc... Amazing track!! Downloading this for future consumption smile heart
