It's not only dumb―it's fun! At least, it was the one time I tried it.
(HEEEEEEEEEEY: This section only makes sense if you have an M8 Tracker―if you don't, you probably won't get much use from it.)
Goal: Mangle/juggle/blend lots of unrelated samples and get them to gel together as best you can.
Phrases can use ONLY samplers OR synths―never both in the same phrase.
Sampler phrases: Juggle between as many samples as you can, as long as they work.
Preferably >3 samples from multiple sources (preferably >2, unrelated)
This should result short play time for evert sample―ideally less than two (<2) beats before switching or getting chopped/modulated/mangled in some way.
No sample can play unaltered for ≥3 beats.
Synth phrases: No more than 2 synth phrases can play at the same time, and there must never be more synth phrases than sampler phrases playing at the same time.
If this was a real game with scores it would probably work like Scrabble, with everything that's "preferred" worth more points. There's probably no consistent way to rank the quality of the end result other than how you feel about it, but as it's a solo game it's not you're comparing it to anyone else's, right?
100% made and mixed on a Dirtywave M8 Tracker.
