Increment Nine

This year, I am taking a bit of an Agile approach, working on breaking down one long continuous composition or album into 1-3-minute delivery chunks, ideas, and motifs flowing from one track to the next. I am drafting future ideas several weeks in advance, refining the next release or two, and finishing one track every week.

This week introduces a new motif and some new instrumentation... and back to the four on the floor. There is something resolute about this track and in the next one, I will be moving into the next epic.

It's a very interesting method, do you plan the ideas in the daw or is it more of a conceptual writing of the tracks? The track sounds pretty solid, really like the acidy pad/drone/reverbed percussions at the beginning, and what seems to be some flanged strings playing from 30s onwards, they give a nice space and movement to the intro. Not a big fan of the clip of the kick around 50, is it intentional? Also when you take out the high pass on the main lead, for the first 8 bars it sounds like it might need some more bounce. Maybe a little bit of side chain? the track sounds very solid overall really good job

The transition works well, the glitchy hard sync arp is interesting. The brassy low pad that you use at 1:01, 1:16, and again at 1:32 provides nice wide ambience. It doesn't return at 2:03, which I expected was the perfect place for it.

Nitpick: the lazer kick doesn't have too much sub oomph.
