Stairwell (redux)

I had planned to do a Big Beat track this week, but it wasn't working out, decided to revisit one of my old LSDJ tracks I lost the source for and try to reimagine it on the M8.

My partner was super lovely and helped me transcribe the original which I had no idea how I had made and I am so bad at transcription.

I'm not 100% happy with it, I don't think it has the same interesting complexity as the original, and it's much less heavy.

I had written the original based on some crappy depressing lyrics but I had never made vocals for it, so I decided to use SynthV to create some new lyrics and vocals for it and really liked the sound of it, though I don't feel like my lyric writing is great.

Arranged on M8, mixed in Reaper, bass: Standard Bass Slap, vocals in Synthesizer V with Xingchen(Stardust) Infinity voicebank.

Original LSDJ Track

Lyrics:

Why don't you let me go
I don't wanna be around you anymore
In the stairwell I wait
Lied straight to my face and with a smile

This is my life, you're not welcome
It's a tear we cannot hope to mend
We keep fighting, neverending
It's a spiral staircase to the end

Darkened hallways, listening to your sighs
The shit that pours out is more than I can stand
Over and over you repeat your lies
Tainted memories, you created this nightmare

whoa this rules - each part is supported and contrasted quite well and the vocals are sublime

Wow, this is nice, those vocals actually sound amazing yikes

Got me dancin!

Sholy Hit, that voice was SynthV?  Sounds great

Cheers! Yeah that was all synthv vocals. It's a Mandarin Chinese voicebank singing in English o__O

Those are some sad lyrics, tho the music's nice, I suppose you could change one of the leads to be harmony instead so the vocals can be sang by actual humans

Suddenly majorly interested in singing synthesis.
Incredible job dude thank you!

Really nice vocals. The work you've got on the harmonies is fantastic. The somewhat "weird" inflection adds a lot of interest to the track.

So SynthV only... sounds like some kind of pocket Elizabeth Fraser/Cocteau Twins instant plugin. Magic!

nice
