now that's a DANK TUNK
holy shit dude
everything in here is fire
fantastic sound design, harmonies, pacing, mixing

everything else is going to sound bland this week lol

wigglin it all out hyphy!!!!

yo what the FUCKK

i was LOSING IT on first listen through the middle section, chip mantra reimagined with weirdo broken brass.  absolutely love the detail porting the melodic fills/alterations, like at 1:58.

and then I was genuinely surprised somehow when the chords at 2:00 turned into my progression.  even kept the microtonal bits for the outro—takes on a whole new vibe in this context.  Less unabashedly brash, more derelict hanging by a thread...

ALSO I JUST NOTICED THE GLITCHES IN THE INTRO ARE PIECES OF THE ORIGINAL TOO GODDAMN

i actually screamed quietly to myself at one point on first listen

just magic hearing something so closely familiar but totally foreignized

This means a lot, you have no idea how daunting it was working with your material. Thank you thank you thank you for letting me mess with it…

Thanks so much for kind words! Congrats on FC this week, was super dope to see your set / participate in the OOH AAHs commentary. I’ve actually been thinking about something in the same vein with MIDI-controlled pedals and M8. I realized I didn’t actually need FC to embrace the aesthetic. smile

You are next, and just so you know I thought remixes would be at least somewhat easier but I didn’t factor in the immense feelings of insecurity about putting out reworks of other people’s content. Yours is hard mode, too, but I have some ideas. Expect insecure emails…. heart

Just as wacky as the original but definitely its own.

wow this fucking RIPS

Liked the transition from the mega-glitch intro to the main groove, although the whole thing was quite the wild ride.

Excited and honored! No worries about insecure emails, I'm CONFIDENT no one beats me at writing out insecurities!! mad ...on second doubt, maybe they do?...

Amazing! It's fun to listen again for all your sounds, I especially like this clicking ones from 0:32. This is a exciting beginning, I imagine it sounds as a strange bird somehow lol

I love the original to death -- originally meant for the second week I had to "take a detour" from my remix plan due to work duties, but listened & read it to the point where by week 3 I've developed anxiety like "wtf can I even do with this?" This is all context for what I'm trying to say w/ greater detail than it usually reads: a sincere thank you for both parts of that comment.

I found the source video for the gif, but it looks like it was taken from a film that had several really badass shots in a row... May I ask where that's from?

Thanks! I think the main groove's kinda too quiet, but I kind of accepted that greater clarity is a couple of weeks out. (Sincerely grateful for your listening and felt like a dick that I couldn't return the favor, ended up being a "hard mode" July, sadly...)

It's a short called Toujin Kit from the Genius Party Beyond anthology.

I have a book called Cannabis Works by Tatsuyuki Tanaka (who was a keyframe animator for Akira) that has several stills from this animation. not sure what the actual animation is called though.

Started this, then thought let me hear the original first, which is great, came back to hear this remix … Bonkers!  This is brilliant, that change up midway puts a giant smile on my face, one of the best weeklybeats tracks all year.

Instant. Fav. Great work

This is mighty high praise, and I am sincerely grateful.

I've been smitten w/ the original ever since I heard it -- I think it's (obviously) a much better / more complete piece of music than the remix (how TF it was done in a week? I guess "I'm so fried right now" comment on the original's page). I'm more happy w/ this than I've been w/ my content for a while, but have ideas for how to extend / complete it. (Experience dictates that sometimes it's best to put some distance so that you don't end up ruining things.)

heart Thanks. Really really really love your streak in the 3rd quarter. I'm not sure (and forgive me if wrong), but sounds like a new direction (bdmxvolver, run away, pkla specifically).

Oooh, I've not heard it as a bird until your comment! I'm very grateful for animals / nature in feedback, "sounds like life" is a massive compliment! -- thank you!

(Worry Visits vibrato use is sooo good -- a beautiful thing made magic! Heard it loop a fair amount, it feels good -- sounds like life on a good day, in spite of the name.)

slam dunk!

Daaamn, a dank dunk banger tank. I gotta go hear the original, but this was fun listen. Great sound design and mix, got all up in my dome and swirled around, I'm hallucinating a little. This plods and thumps and rises to the next

How to describe that continuous stutter like sound that dominates the first minute? It is very original, very powerful, really catches you. And yet when you stop it, it goes into the melody of the brass and of the bass. The subtlety of it all is awesome. Like the high range lead at 1:46 - so sweet. The mix of your tracks are always very impressive - there is ALOT happening but you give it all a lot of space, 3d, and there is no mud or confusion. Another alien ilzcx track, tipping my hat to you, sir.

Your bass tone is true and mix so strong! Love love the sounds at 1:11. Like mechanical dark army of synth robots. Totally bad ass!

That first section was soooooooo dope. Tickled my ears. I love that transformation at 1:58 as well. Seriously, sick remix.

I love your work. so many impressive sounds. well done.

YIKES this is so good this is reminding me to give you FULL ACCESS to my computer hard drive so you can do whatever the heck you do.

the ending is incredible
