(super undercooked, runny-eggs-type-beat; busy week)

Sounds:
* bellows (arp sound)
* ooverdrive (sustained lofi bass)
* tumsdums (percussive bass)
* vhsfnnk (cartoony funky sound from the ending)

ahhh it's like electro-swing through a blender

OK... I generally never criticize your work but I really wanted to hear that arpeggio bass DOMINATE the mix and shove everyone else out of the way. but it's nice and creepy in the corner with its upper harmonics all the same. otherwise, dope as always. that melody at the end is particularly nice.

also, wtf you submitted this literally a week ago??

Oh I love the groove of that track. super sick and original. It's whimsical, light, and yet has a dark side. It reminds me both of the work of Emir Kusturica (I think it's the bass), and a festival of horror clowns. Like a strange dark circus. I love how the groove is also in the fact that it seems to fade in and out very quickly, like pulse - that's a super cool effect. I am curious how you accomplished this. The chiptune lofi elements are very nice too.

Beautiful beautiful track, I could see that soundtrack in a Luigi's Mansion game or something like that - both light and dark. Inspiring!

1. you should criticize my work -- my attitude is that this is practice and folks mentioning issues helps hear things appropriately;
2. agreed -- did not have time to mix, literally started bouncing at 4:52, when ableton crashed -- (last minute runny eggs), and I think the non-main-loop sections are way quiet, energy drops feel like mistakes particularly in the second one;
3. submitted this 10 minutes after the deadline because the mods took pity on me -- I guess that's how late submissions work?

Thanks for warm words -- the effect is just from working w/ chops, many of which are sped-up due to octave transpositions, the trick is to just embrace the weirdness of silence between things, which I feel is surprisingly more difficult than making all the cuts. I've taken out a lot of shit, the original loop had retrigs to fill out the gaps, the M8 reworking choked (early cuts) some of the horn samples instead... Thanks for noting the pointillist aspect, I do think it's more interesting that way, but didn't know how it reads to others.

When the bass hits it's my kind of track. Assembling something like this would take me a month, still waiting for the day it all clicks. That's how that works, yea?

So groovy… can't help but put on a stank face and nod my head throughout the tune. smile

Very cool! The chopped up groove is quite hypnotic. I would like to have some of your editing and mixing skills to incorporate into my own music, but I wouldn't know where to start. Props!

unnnhhh. dope. bass should bump a little more, but great stuff +1

love everything about this -from the glitchy chippy old school circus vibe with a touch of reggae and how it develops near the end

The start-stop herky-jerky feel of this is cool.  Makes me feel a little woozy in a good way.

The chippy arps sound sound like electronic rain-sticks :3
The rhythm on this is really interesting as well, kind of swings in a stop and go kind of way. I also like how where a snare hit might be in some areas is instead replaced with a high pitched BEEP from the synth haha. Kind of a nice switcharoo.

This is very catchy from the get-go, and the way it keeps adding variation to that base throughout is excellent. The melodic bass, those (stereo) chirps, and then that sustained bass! With the filter lead on top. Enough other stuff here for many listens, this is probably my favourite track of yours.

I love the reggae beat so much. an incredible track. awesome fun to listen to. Supersupergood.

Love this, amazing feel to the groove. Super impressive production, really full of catchy sounds

They're all right this is incredible. It just need dubby/reggae brass hits! Again awesome sound design.

Cool sounds on this! It's a broken song trying to put together, and other broken pieces join to help big_smile

Nice one! Great instrumentation and arrangement. I really like how the fast release gated sounding bits add to the rhythm with the silence from their release. Also really like how this plays off the dubby bass which leaves a bit of an expectation of a springy tail to the sounds so that instant silence just makes them even more percussive and present.

the choppy push-pull vibe of the pitched-up horns augmented with the perc, instant groove.

i've brought up kursa before, one of my fav artists, but the crisp beat+samples here remind me of some of their stuff*, and there's a similar approach in the bass here (simple line, lending to exploring some different patches/articulation).

*there's one track in particular that i can't exactly recall.

P-P-P-arty-arty-a-a-r-t-y Bossanova sound. So catchy! All beat with small windows bursting with melody. Very clever.

the other day i went to the walmart with my dad to get a folding table and some vitamins to make my naails grow longer and stronger and my hair silkier and longer and i stepped over one of those deconstructed aisles with all the dust and discoloration s and recieved the lord in my heart in the aisle next to the folding tables.

today i went to a different walmart to get some binder clips and there was a couple talking in the car next to where i pulled up about what the one wanted to do in his life, like plans n shit. i got to the binder clip aisle and opened the small box to count the binder clips and check the size. it was gio]\\d so i threw them on the self check and bought a new bra for $5…

act 3
the clouds folded over the walmart parking lot like a wet blanket filled with smudgy paint water. it made the trees glow even greener. i stared up at the sky while walking to my next existence, wondering if anyone else thought of the space betweeb] exostences and the blanket sky. the cart boiz lived their lives. i got to my car and texted and the cart boi tapped the back of my dirty ass car and got in the dirty ass car next to mine, he left revealing a large glowing pick up truck, just watching for some reason at the edge of existence

i returned to existance and took a photo of the smudgy sky while going 60mph, sry wont do it again

Wow, “ super undercooked, runny-eggs-type-beat” that is the perfect description, this beat is so wonky, growling bass is a nice finish in the end.  Brilliant use of samples/sounds as a drum kit

Damn, you're putting that M8 to good work.  There's something about the tones of this machine.  Not sure if it's the tightness of the timing or the converters but it always sounds great.  Love the gated vibe of this as it allows for greater space within the mix.
